Good points, I knew all this without watching the doc apart from the conman bit.
This is probably the most regurgitated debate of all time, even beating Brexit. The girl is dead, move on.
Afternoon pranks
I didn't see the other article so lay off
They value food and wine over the life of a small child
Odious lying skumbag McCants, may they rot in hell
Sorry to sit on the fence like this
1. I don't think that's necessarily the case, although my firs thought would have been to check the window.
2. The Portugese police seemed useless.
5. Yeah, inexcusable imo. You couldn't clearly see the apartment and to say "it was the done thing" doesn't sit well with me. I remember going on holidays with family and "the kids" would just fall asleep in their prams.
Right The McCanns claimed to all and sundry that the shutters had been smashed/jemmied an an intruder had broken in and taken their child.
The police (and the complex management) checked the shutters, they could NOT have been opened from the outside (nor could the window) and nobody had been in or out that way.
So Kate lied about that, must have opened the window and shutters herself.
Draw your own conclusions.
No break-in, no abduction so what does that leave ? again not hard to work out.
Maybe invisible aliens beamed her up through the ceiling ?
I think we're all on the same page here

The 'abductor' could have left by the window due to being disturbed, he doesn't have to have entered by the window as well
The window looked pretty high up to me

I can't claim to be an expert on this subject but I'm confident that there are a fair few myths kicking around.
Googled it and up comes this page.
The first myth is what you have just said.
http://madeleinemythsexposed.pbworks.com/w/page/39076140/Main%20Page
It's all speculation. We don't know what happened. The parents showed neglect, but they weren't the first or will be the last. Beyond that we don't know.
1. She could have, well would have panicked, hence leaving the other two.
5. Leaving your kids so you can go out and have a meal with friends is inexcusable.
1. Nobody knows how they would react of they came back to find their daughter was missing. Logic certainly wouldn't come into it.
2. Correct. They had no procedure for this and by the time forensics were called in there was people walking in and out of the place without proper clothing. The lead detective was struck off the case after being found to have falsified evidence in another child abduction case.
3. It was actually a company the McCann's employed the investigator only worked for them and was found to have committed fraud on other cases. The McCann's felt they didnt get their money worth from the company.
4. It has been proven in reports that they can signal for nothing. One I read a dog signalled for a piece of skull and it turned out to be a piece of coconut shell. The handler stated his dog signals for blood from live people also. Read the reports, he was called Grimes. Read Operation Rectangle. The police who employed Grimes and the dog released a report saying they didn't have enough training and regulation and there were too many false positives.
5. True and they paid the ultimate price.
5; Yes an no. Hands up all those who have never had one glass more than they should before driving.
Never broke the speed limit on a suburban street.
It depends on the area, if you can see the building, if there are good neighbours.
What time it is, is it light.
No, it's not right, but it is sometimes human to do something you should not.
I remember seeing a reconstruction on Crimewatch many years ago where they showed that something had unsettled Madeleine the night before she went missing so the parents decided to increase the number of times they checked on the kids during their meal.
To me (the father of a 7 year old) it is beyond belief that they would leave them alone in the first place but to continue when armed with this information is pure neglect and a prosecution should have followed.
As for whether they did it or not I have no idea but their odd behaviour, attitude and lack of contrition certainly makes them an easy couple to dislike.
How do we know Maddie didn't run off herself?

Point 1 - why is that misleading ?
There are YT videos with the couple's parents and relatives who all said that Kate told her the shutters were jemmied/smashed.
I don't believe that is false.
You tell me if an innocent couple who has just had a child snatched would calmly sit down AND DELETE ALL CALLS & TEXTS from their mobiles. They did that when they should have been out searching
"but it is sometimes human to do something you should not."
I think any parent would say it was neglect, and not an honest mistake or slightly poor decision making.
Leaving three toddlers in an apartment alone is plain crazy. I still have the monitor on when my nearly 3 year old goes to bed if I'm on another floor.

The police checked the window, there was a layer of lichen UNDISTURBED. The bedroom is right next to the front door, no need for acrobatics.
One abductor could have lifted the kid out of the window to a second, I guess. No lichen disturbed there.
The accidental death theory is one I believe most plausible, but you can easily argue for and against any of them.
The only fact is the parents were irresponsible in leaving the kids alone to go out.
