Puffin, I always knew that Holland was a province rather than a country, but maybe you can help my ignorance, why is it referred to by so many as Holland?

Mind you nobody has a clue what country they live in here and constantly refer to the US as America so perhaps it's just more general ignorance
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is a fair question and the confusion is understandable. People from the two provinces Zuid-Holland and Noord-Holland (south and north) refer to as living in Holland, it also stems from history where we once were called the Kingdom of Holland was just a teaser name created by Bonaparte to shut up his brother. It was called so between 1806 en 1810. From the country today, the Kingdom of Holland excluded parts in the south, like Zeeland and Limburg, being part of the French Kingdom in Belgium and included parts of Friesland in Germany in the north.

The name Holland always stuck around, but officially we are The Netherlands, or the Netherlands. Capitalisation of the or The is debatable.

2.8m signatures. Democracy at its finest.

She's playing for time with time we don't have it's mental.

She's still not answered what happens when her deal is rejected again. This whole pretending there are no other options is very tedious.

If we were going to leave, we should have negotiated a withdrawal agreement and THEN triggered article 50. Giving businesses and people 2 years to get ready for whatever had been agreed.

That's my biggest argument for revoking Article 50, let's do it properly without setting stupid deadlines.

(I put this on the other thread but seemed to be valid here too).

That blueinbarca meltdown on the other thread was absolute poetry in motion. Genuinely intriguing to get such a close insight into the mental processes of a raving lunatic.

To be fair he might very well be a commodities trader. He fits the bill - well placed to benefit from Brexit with a couple of stock options, probably an unstable narcissist to begin with and almost certainly with a massive drug habit

It would have to get probably 10 million signatures to get any real kind of parliamentary support

I think even if it attained 40m signatories the government wouldn't take any notice.

This

If you heard how casually May brushed it off last night, you'll realise just how little they care.

Genuinely, even if it attracted more than 17.4 million signatures they'd just say "some of the votes are from ex-pats who weren't eligible for the referendum" or "so what, Leave would probably get more than 17.4 million votes now" despite the fact that the equivalent No-Deal petition has been up for five months and has under 400,000 votes.

That one's been up for 18 days already

It's funny, isn't it. People are always saying Leave voters are thick/uneducated/whatever... I mean, I'm sure it's coincidence that the Remain poll text is properly written and punctuated, whereas the Leave one is... Not.

Why do you think it's not possible to be both like say a financial advisor specialising in high-risk,high-yield financial instruments such as commodities and currencies?
Do you think a successful trader trades his own monies or client's risk capital?
Why would I trade my own money the broker always gets paid,I have a brokerage in Melbourne,Australia btw!
Try Googling 'Where are the client's yachts' and you may begin to get a better idea of how the system works, obviously it is and always will be beyond your comprehension as I'm just way above you in the food chain and always will be,I make no apologies for that of course!
