Should players be allowed to switch?

'So a player can declare for one national side from the start of qualification for one World Cup, and then for another 4 years later.'

------------------------------

Whether or not people agree with this or not it is actually a well thought out scenario.

In fact it makes me wonder who is this person posting this and will the real D'Jeezus - who we all know to be a complete idiot - please stand up.

If you remember Alfredo di Stefano played for 3 countries.
What about during a game, could a player change countries at half time.
Quiz Question
Who played for Arsenal in the morning and Spurs in the afternoon ON THE SAME DAY ?

Traitor Rice shouldn’t have been allowed to switch after 3 caps.

I don't agree with the ones that join blatantly inferior sides as it's a chance to play more football. Like Austria want Ashley Barnes because he has an Austrian grandfather or something. After you've made appearances, you shouldn't really be allowed to change either imo, it devalues nationality and heritage imo.

The counter argument would be that we want to see the quality of the "inferior sides" improve, which can be done by having the option to pick the best players eligible.

My boss is a chartered engineer who holds 3 different national passports in order to make his company more competitive in the global construction market.

I've had to re-register my qualifications in 4 different national councils while on assignment over the years.

I'm not going to sit here and criticise Declan Rice. At the end of the day, football is still a job like any other.

I'm just about ok with what Rice has done, in changing his allegiance after playing friendlies and all the under age levels for another country. I think that's where the line should be drawn. Switching countries after playing competitive games takes it too far for me, and does undervalue playing for your country. If you have regrets that's just tough luck.

I’m not surprised he’s treacherous, he’s a West ham player. Not to be trusted.

Can't be that many players who have made the move from Arsenal to Tottenham.

Tell me if I'm getting warm, because a quick internet search brought up Rohan Ricketts, David Jenkins, Laurie Brown, Jimmy Brain and Gallas.

But knowing this site, I bet you're probably talking about Harry Kane.

I personally think you should play for the country of birth and that country only. It shouldn’t come down to where your mums, grannies, best mates cat was born.

Boarders aren’t really real and neither is ‘countries’ DJ wants us to come home to the unique flavour of shattering the grand illusion, and it’s going over most people’s heads, as usual.

Boarders are real and should pay, costs money to keep and feed someone.
Snowboarders are nuisance getting in the way of skiiers.

I wouldn't have any issue with it. I'm sure it's fine in a lot of sports with no problems
