I agree with you here. It may be a bit risky but I think he will take the LVG approach and deliberately leave a lot of squad players for our youth.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope so but we still need to identify some top talent to compliment our youngsters and our best players imo.

Mata and Herrera have had new deals on the table for more than 18 months now, we can’t force them to sign it. It’s facking annoying that the likes of Jones, Young and Smalling have managed to sign though.

A clear out is needed. I like Herrera and Mata but I wouldn’t be that angry to see them leave, providing we invest in the right type of players to supplement the squad.

Good news! I like Ole even more now. I didn't think he'd have a massive clear out but that's what we need. We have hungry and talented youngsters waiting to play.

We also need some top quality additions, we need two players for each position.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah it's great news losing players for free.

I really don't see any positive of losing Herrera and Mata in free transfers when likes of Fellaini,.Young, Jones and Smalling all got renewals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Herrera is the only real loss and he should be a squad player. I couldn't care less about Rojo etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't you mean Mata?

Rojo can leave for me. Never rated him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No I rate Herrera more in terms of how he fits into Ole's system. Mata is best used behind the striker, playing in between the lines. He has been used on the right for almost six years now, a waste of talent! I'd prefer we bring in more dynamic players anyway. De Gea, Martial, Pogba, Rashford... as long as they stay for the next few years while we rebuild then I'm happy.

It would be a shame to lose Herrera but if he's asking for 200k a week then we really have no other option. Got to start setting a precedent somewhere (better late than never!)

The rest mentioned in this thread need to go. Including Mata who I do like, but is a player we really need to upgrade on now.

A clearout on this scale has been needed for a while.

Did anybody read this part?

“In Football Leaks material published by Der Spiegel in May 2018, it was claimed Sanchez, whose contract runs to 2022, earns £391,000-a-week, with an additional £75,000 for every game he starts.

It was said the 30-year-old also gets a £1.1m annual fee, along with additional bonuses, the triggers for which are yet to be met.”

No wonder everybody is after a pay rise.

Herrera will take some replacing, if we even try to do it. He's a very good foil for Pogba in the 4-3-3.

I suspect we'll see Fred acting in his stead if Herrera is actually gone. Which troubles me.

Mata I'd also be sad to see go but more for nostalgic and off-the-pitch reasons, to be honest.

I’ve said repeatedly this signing will set us back for years. It’s caused the likes of De Gea and Herrera to start running down their contracts because the club won’t bow to their wage demands.

The only silver lining is that the article also says United are confident they can reach a deal with De Gea.

Said earlier that it looks like most of our Spanish speaking contingent could be out the door.

Shades of Fergie sweeping out the 'Drinking Club'?

Hopefully if that's the case then DDG will be the Robson of the group.

At least we'll be keeping that bit

Herrera and Mata weren't Jose signings and them leaving for free has very little to do with him.

...

I never said they were. Stay focused on the point of squad rebuilding and not who signed who.

Has been a big flop.
Would he have been any better if he had ended up at City instead?

I can't see anywhere but China meeting close to those wage demands. But if he wants to play, that's probably what he'll have to do or the club has to do something akin to what we did with Rooney.

Sadly, when the club is run by non-footballing people, that's what you get.

This post SAF project whatever it was has completely failed, started of with the redicolous appointment of Moyes, and that set us back a decade, because after that it’s just been panick recruitment with no strategy what so ever. I’m hoping they give Ole time to build something, we will most likely struggle for a few years but it may pay off long term, as long as the club has a vision for the future.

Bumble the club has no vision, they probably hope Ole becomes Ferguson. They are clueless. I can see us losing loads of our best players this summer as we won’t get top 4 and buying average players because the best won’t want to join us.

Wow. Not like you to have a complete overreaction

Not a single mention for Pereira taking Herrera's place?

Ole is slowly but surely introducing both him and McT into more and more games in this role. Don't be surprised if we focus more on replacing the Matic role.

Mata
Herrera
Darmian
Rojo
Valencia

Will United even get 8 figures for all these players combined? Crazy considering how much was spent to bring them all to OT. Fred is another one I can see OGS actively trying to bin

What about Pogba?

Ole wants to build a team around him, ( I presume that means he would be captain?) yet the rumours continue about his commitment to United.
It also seems that he has downed tools again. His stats vs Wolves were less than pathetic.

Can we really trust this guy to be the next Keane/Robbo/Buchan, or should we just get rid this summer if Real want him and think again.

Personally I think he is bordering on average.

Appreciate it's hardly a cast iron guarantee of quality when a top foreign side sign a player, but interesting that PSG have gone for Herrera.

Not so long ago Liverpool fans were on here telling us how much better Henderson is.

Assume there's no sign of PSG being in for good old Jordan?

We wouldn’t get 8 figures, clearly not as three of them would be leaving on a free. Sanchez approx 15-20m, Rojo 10-15m and Darmian approx 10m.
However we would be saving approx 1m+ a week.
I expect especially considering we didn’t spend huge amounts last summer we have a very large pot of cash. I think we will see a minimum of 4 players coming in all of quality
I believe Wan Basaka will be one and one of Alderweireld or Koulibaly. Then a CM and RW although I think we need x2 CMs personally. Maybe Rabiot from PSG and a big signing would be ideal. Can’t see any of our big players leaving ie a Pogba, DDG this summer. Either way it’s going to be one huge summer
