There’s a world of difference between Liverpool and City core support
There’s only Utd & Liverpool in England who have the volume of supporters countrywide who can be relied upon to snap up any tickets
Spurs Chelsea & Arsenal have the London tourists to pick up the slack whereas City are mainly a localised fan base and simply haven’t picked up any meaningful tourist support in this country yet. Tourists in the north west will still go to Liverpool & Utd first as that’s where the history is.

At City it’s generally the same people who are going to all the games, the away games especially with the loyalty points making getting tickets very difficult for new or younger supporters but the city is a relatively poor one so it’s understandable that people have to start picking and choosing the games they go to
I’ve spent over £8k this season just on tickets travel and accommodation,it’s a very expensive hobby

I think there should be more understanding on why there are so many empty seats, the average working man just can’t afford to go to every game

I’m at Wembley Saturday ticket & train £120
Spurs on Tuesday ticket & train £140
Palace next Sunday ticket & train £110

£370 in a week on just tickets & travel

You're talking way too much sense for the Liverpool board

I absolutely agree pplf. Sky have done some great things for footie, but you need plenty of money to follow your team now. When I used to go to away games with MIck and Ray it never seemed expensive.

heard the call, what the caller was saying was that due to organic success liverpool, man utd, arsenal, even spurs could sell out easily and wouldn't return tickets.

The argument that city have to play away v palace in midweek is a poor one. How many away supporters will be at Selhurst park? 3000? Should've been 25000 at Wembley for man city today. Couldnt get it done.

That's what you get through buying success over the short term, no large base of supporters to give that platform of mass support.

Easy come, easy go..

Even worse when you realise it’s next Sunday

They’ve ruined the game, not done great things. The whole landscape has changed since they got involved. Of course there are many other factors, but their decision to show coverage and make it their prime focus kickstarted the capitalist free for all that we see now, where fans are priced out of the game.

It was maybe bound to happen at some stage, but for me they’ve turned into a frenzy of money. That’s not what it should really be about.

yeah that is even worse.. couldnt even sell out an allocation of 25000 at Wembley for the cup semi final because a week later 3000 (or so they say) will be at Palace.

Man city dont have 28000 fans that want to travel to games?

Redinthehead. I'm à United fan, but remember City winning the FA cup with Bert Trautman, ity winning the title under Joe Mercer, the teams of Mal om Allison after. You're argument doesn't ring true.

So you're saying the fans cant be bothered?

what are their allocations for Spurs and Palace away? doubt it would be more than 4000 each.
It's a joke if a top team cannot sell out ticket allocations.

no wonder pep couldn't understand it. maybe the fans wanted tickets handed to them as well.

Yes Baz, great things is going too far. But they did provide a lot of the money for new stadia so we could watch in comfort and safety. And those who had no chance of getting to the game could watch it at home.

Maximum away allocation for PL is 3k. Palace is 2.5k due to small stadium

To be fair, if Liverpool or United were playing at Wembley, it would be an easier journey for most of their fanbase than a home game.

Their problem is that Munich made a lot of people in Manchester, United fans, then their success kept them. You talk as if it began when they were bought.

They are a smallish club, with a smallish fan base, but just happen to be the wealthiest club in world football.
It's not really an attack on the supporters, or the club, it's just the way it is.

Provided A lot of money. But it’s cost football (and I don’t mean engljand) a lot. It’s ruined the landscape of European footy and turned into into a rich boys club. They’ve also done a number elsewhere, some pubs are paying 20k a year now to show theirs and bt’s (Who’ve piggybacked their model) games.

But what is done is irreversible now.dky, remember were a murdoch entity, like the sun, and all those other shiiit stained bits of toilet paper. None of it’s for good, it’s all for profit.

Haven’t City got some of the cheapest ST’s in the league as well?

No Liverpool fan on Ja comes from Liverpool or ever goes to watch them play, yet they want to slate City for having fans that don’t attend games. Irony much.

Ah look who it is.

Still waiting to hear why people from Liverpool are scvm?

How would city accumulate a large amount of fans in the 7 or so years that they have been successful? You start supporting teams at less than 10 years old usually. If they did suddenly have loads of fans then they'd just be plastic fans. They are a reasonably small club who have hit the jackpot and gotten quick success. It's all just pretty obvious lol

Sorry it was scvm of the earth.

Baz, I don't mean Sky were altruistic, far from it, and I can't stand Murdoch or the Sun. But they were made to pay through the nose.

Paul sums it up, when you look at the costs then are you surprised why they can’t fill out? Not to mention eating and staying in London is facking expensive as it is too. Their fan base is much more smaller than the other top 6 sides too.

posted on 6/4/19

It’s hardly surprising, they don’t have a huge fanbase. Paul seems to sum it up well.
