I know I'll probably regret asking this but...
Why do you think the t-shirt fiasco is in any way connected to the fans?
It was an ill-conceived idea from the players that the management didn't have the common sense to put a stop to.

I think if the fans had not adopted such a rabid approach to the matter the club may have tempered its response and reactions.

Right. So you believe that players at Liverpool were incited to come up with the t-shirt idea as a response to a proportion of Liverpool fans who adopted a defensive attitude?
And the players chose to ignore the majority of fans who took a much more moderate view?
Then you believe that the club management were swayed in their decision to allow the t-shirts by the same vocal minority.
And you believe this over the idea that the players came up with a stupid idea that management didn't have the sense to stop. You must believe Liverpool have real influence on the squad and board room.
