Just done the exact same thread pal.
I am still a little sceptical, not sure he will ever be one of those forwards who scores lots and his decision making is poor. Could have laid it off but chose to shoot cost us an opportunity.
Goes through periods when he is anonymous.
That said he looked quite creative and the decision to take Bamford off and not him was the correct one.
Heskey was a handful and never scored many, forwards do not always need to be scoring loads to be effective.
Heskey couldn’t lace this kids boots technically
Sorry LIW must have done at same time bud.
Not really the point I was, making was it, we all know Heskey was just a battering ram, the point is that forwards do not always have to be your 30 goals a year Harry Kane types. I am not convinced we will ever get more than ten to fifteen goals a season out of Roberts but that doesn't matter.
Heskey got 62 caps for England, must have been lean times.
I get you pal.
Yeah I don’t think he’ll ever be 20 goal a season man but think he always play second striker
I think Roberts looks strong, hard to knock him off the ball, he's not afraid to try and take on a man, likes to shoot, but also links it all up, think he's developing nicely.
In a way, its almost good that he was injured when he joined as otherwise we might have gotten better results under TC or Heck and we might never have gotten Bielsa this season.
Roberts point of difference is that he can take a man on and run at players. It adds a different dimension. If he matures with his decision making we could have a real player.
He’s a confident player - he’s not afraid to try stuff that just failed
He’s a bit in and out and sometimes you need more from your ten, but at 19 this will happen, top talent and I’m glad we have him,
He is currently playing very well in the role he has been set into.
You are right there is something special about him, the kid is a teenager and he is a regular in a side second in the championship. I think he is only going to get better.
I also think it's worth noting that when we needed him to step up into the forward role this season he did it.
He seems to be the perfect bielsa type player, great in one position but also useful in a second or third.
He could be a very big player for us
Don, you can put your boots away now that were on standby last couple of years.
Just a small note. He turned 20 in January
It’s been obvious for a long time how good Roberts is. He’s got the quickest feet in the squad.
A lot wrote him off earlier and it really annoyed me. A few have continued to criticise. But he will play at a high level. He’s a very very good player.
Harrison getting better by the game too. Much more confident and tricky
Yeah - Harrison has really developed this season. I wonder whether City will let him join us permanently?
There's more to come from Roberts without a doubt. He was wasteful at times and caught in possession but the positives outweigh the negatives.
We have some real talent on our books.
Why. what has he done today AZA?
I wouldn't really want Harrison on a permanent. He works hard, knows the system well but hasn't contributed enough in attack. His crossing is erratic and he should have more than 4 goals.
Ditch Harrison & go get James
We will never sign James, said it before, that ship has sailed.
