The non league player who scored the day after his new born had died and had the t-shirt that said "that one's for you son".

I know its not what you were looking for but I just thought it poignant, that to escape his personal hell for a few moments he used football.

Loved Tiger winning yesterday, and the non-league player one Hector brought a tear to my eye as I'm a dad, too.

My personal favourite is found in the film Senna. I loved watching him race as a lad and I was heartbroken when he died; I remember playing with Lego whilst watching the grand prix. My dad and I were aghast at the whole spectacle that weekend; if ever there was a jinxed grand prix, that was it. I digress: my favourite moment in the film Senna (which is a marvellous film), is where he's comfortably winning the Brazilian GP in 1991 but then his gearbox goes right near the end and he's stuck in 6th gear for the final 7 laps. Somehow, and I don't know how on earth he did it, he nursed that car to the end. Can you imagine driving your average Zafira in 6th gear around town, let alone winning a GP with an F1 car?? The in-board footage from the last straight shows what at first sounds like him shouting with victory, but really it's Senna screaming in pain as the effort it's taking on his body is inhuman. He wins, collapses, and is then extremely (understandably) touchy when people trying to congratulate him as his shoulders are still reeling from the pain it took to guide that car home. Senna the film then has this heroic moment where he summons the strength to lift the not-insignificant trophy on the podium. Like Woods, Senna was a flawed hero, but more interesting and human as a result.

I don’t know much about cricket but I know it’s a team game. Maybe I didn’t make it clear but I was asking for your best memories in singles sports. Golf, snooker, tennis, darts etc.

Probably not going to be up there for most but Ian Woosnam winning the Masters in 1991 is up there for me. I was 13 and very keen on my golf at the time and seeing a Welshman win a major was great as well as the fact a fellow short man could actually be good at something!

Me winning

I did like Lewis Hamilton winning the championship in 2008 though as it was a very dramatic race due to rain and considering how he lost it in his first year due to McLaren team stupidity and Lewis Hamilton not making it to pits.

Derek Ibbotson, who had just broken the mile record, running a mile at Prestwich on a grass track, honoring a commitment. I chanced my first pint in a pub after. 1961?

Bit before my time but must have been great to see a fellow countryman win the masters. As an Irishman I really enjoyed Harrington’s three majors.

Looked it up since then, he broke it in 1957, but came back to the mile in 1060.
Also being overtaken by Beryl Burton in a 25 mile time trial.
She was England's greatest athlete ( cyclist) look her up if you don't believe me.

And getting a birdie at the last at Hoylake with the pro watching. Swank.

Not necessarily my favourite, but Ronnie O'Sullivan taking a year off and retaining the world championship was utter madness.

The word genius is thrown around too much, but it 100% applies to Ronnie

On an individual basis it has to be Kurt Angle winning the wrestling gold medal with a broken neck.

Super Saturday during the London Olympics was pretty good. Rutherford, Ennis and Farah all winning golds. What a night for British athletics.

Murray winning Wimbledon for the first time?

Hamilton’s first F1 world championship was special, such drama at the end with Massa the champ at the time he saw the chequered flag and both Ferrari and McLaren teams going nuts at the same time.

Tiger’s win yesterday was incredible, so pleased he did it

It was.

As someone, like yourself, from a smallish country it doesn't happen that often.

Diafol, it happens a lot even to a small country like Wales? But you have to like Rugby to appreciate it, Barry John, Gareth Edwards etc.

I know MU52. We still take pride in it when it does happen though with Geraint Thomas, Mark Williams, Joe Calzaghe being TDF winners and World Champions and the rugby team (as well as the football team of course) giving us some great moments recently.

Probably Steven Gerrard's 'This does not slip' slip in 2014.

I know football is a team game, but it's a well docuented myth that Gerrard 'single-handedly carried the team for years'.

Therefore it's only right and proper to recognise when he single-handedly right royally fecked them with a moment of individual brilliance and comic timing that will surely never be matched.
