Jose was complete pony this season Robb there's no two ways about it. The players you have were just better footballers than many teams they played and therefore won some games. Jose had lost it from the end of last season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m not denying that Jose deserved to be sacked. You won’t find any post where I’ve said he should have stayed

But ultimately it’s wrong to say he killed our season. He wounded it but he left in December and since then we’ve been in the top 4 with the same players so it’s silly to say ‘killed’ as that suggests there was no hope of us salvaging it.

The players downed tools under him and then magically performed like different players under Ole, in which they earnt Ole a permanent contract. These same players seem to be slacking off now a couple of months early. They had top 4 in the palms of their hands but recent poor performances and a general feel of not giving a fack is ruining all that hard work
----------------------

I can't agree that the players downed tools Robb. We kept on coming from behind to steal wins and draws. That simply doesn't happen when players have downed tools. The problem was the tactics. Once we were behind in games the players either had licence from Jose to attack, or decided to attack themselves. I don't know which one it was, but either way, it was Jose's tactics and negativity in general that saw us playing such poor football and doing poorly in the league.

Spot on

I don’t really by all this downing tools don’t give a crap stuff. It’s more than fundamental flaws in the squad have been exposed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think it’s pretty obvious that Pogba downed tools under Jose
--------------------

His performances were no different than before. He blows hot and cold. After a great run under Ole, he is back to the same can't be bothered attitude. Time to ship him out and get someone in that understands the value of the shirt that they are wearing.

Good man Diafol still hanging onto the name!!

Also everyone knows away goals count for triple
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've another 12 hours or so of it left!

A 2-2 would do then tonight in that case! May be keeping that name after all!*

*I know a 2-2 tonight would see us go out but at least it would seem to be a go out fighting result which I can accept.

It still amazes me people don’t know this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s up there with people not knowing the facking away goal rule.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What's hard about the away goal rule? Away goals count double, what can be simpler than that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
some on here thought if you got an away goal it counted as 2 goals
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It does.

If you score two away goals, it counts as four.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly!

100% right, TOOR.

I cannot believe how poorly educated those Spurs fans were on this point recently in an article on their board.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Which article was this out of interest?

I think some people get confused with the away goal rule by thinking this:

Liverpool 0 Man City 3
Man City 3 Liverpool 5

Would result in a Liverpool win. Which by your simple logic of 'away goals count double', it would. With the scores being:

Man City 9 Liverpool 10

But obviously it's not as simple as that, as the scores have to be 'level' for away goals to come into play, meaning obviously Man City would win the tie 6-5.

I actually know football fans in real life who wouldn't understand that. Baffles me.

What don't you understand about away goals counting double?
