At 16m euros Blind is their most expensive player. That tells you something. They are soooooooo much better run. When I think of Ajax, I think of youth, good football and a club focused on football. When I think of Man Utd, I now think of money, instagram, advertising..profit.. etc. We are now a business first, football club second.

Agreed, ajax’s Scouting and training systems are far superior to ours (scouting anyway).

Ajax are everything a proper football team should aspire to. Without the Bosman arrest they would easily be one of the top 4 teams in the world still, and not just one with an amazing history.

Looking at all the talent they produced from their youth academy in the last 3 decades, from Bergkamp, Patrick Kluivert, Seedorf, Davids, de Boer brothers, Sneijder, van der Vaart, to now Daley Blind, Frendie de Jong, de Ligt, van der Beek, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, to the 15/16 year olds they blooded, played and developed as teenagers like Litmanen, Zlatan, Eriksen, Overmars etc etc.

Every youth team plays the same system as the senior team (4-3-3), and throughout the youth academy they have ex players coaching the youngsters. And now they have ex players like van der Sar and Overmars running the club as well.

This is what every proper football team should aspire to, and I hope they end up with them big ears this year!

That's what Barça did. They've basically morphed into Ajax on steroids.

Small correction, that is what Cruijff did when in charge as coach at Barca, copying the Ajax system he helped develop there in the 70s.

And last few years Barca seems to have left Cruijffs philosophy behind, and buy the best players instead of having patience and develop their own youth academy players. After the golden generation of Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets etc I cannot really think of any Barca youth academy player becoming a regular starter in their first team.

Instead they have spent hundreds of millions on the likes of Suarez, Coutinho, Neymar, and are now raiding Ajax of their young talent in de Jong, and according to strong rumours in the Dutch press, they will add de Ligt to that.
