Yeah shame we don't have any strikers.

I don't think we are as bad as folk make out. Its just with a few injuries we've needed to bring in the likes of Palmer and Shinnie which isn't good enough.

We didn't have to bring in these guys though.

Shinnie got played out of position at LB ahead of Barry Douglas.

Shinnie hasn't played LB for yonks.

Crazy decision.

Exactly. Barry Douglas and even bringing back Bardsley would have been so much better.

Scotland's first string team should be just about good enough to compete but I think the important thing missing is strength in depth.

Injuries or suspensions can force a change to our team set up. Do we have the tools to change a game on the park and mix up tactics? Can we replace a big name on the team sheet? I don't think so, we don't have the back-ups.

Should we still be recruiting players with metal or would flair suit us more? Does Scotland need to remain a team which battles in the midfield? I think so. While I'd love to see a rejuvination of our national team, I just don't see it happening right now. Scotland will continue to play the same way. But to improve we need bigger numbers of top pros to select from. For that, we need a culture shift. 16-20 year olds told to look after their bodies and this to continue into their 30's. No more booze and healthy diets.

I agree this is important.

But clubs like Rangers (and no doubt celtic and others) already have programmes in place for these types of things.

Even the kids at Auchenhowie have their hydration levels tested daily, and they keep diaries using apps on their phones to record the food they eat and even things like the quality of sleep they get.

I am not saying they never drink but the level of professionalism expected of the kids coming through these days is pretty high at some clubs.

Aye theres ones at my team who have been picked up by Rangers and Celtic and they have diet sheets at 5 and 6 year old

Charlie Nicholas just slated the SFA for the McLeish "saga" then backed Malky Mackay to get the job

Barry Douglas was injured for the recent games. His season was ended just before the squad was selected.

Anyway, Scott Gemmill the favourite, which is pleasing.

facking hell, Malky?, Nicholas has lost the plot. He said the fans lost interest, it never had interest when it saw Eck was given the job.

I would go for Lennon personally, but that’s probably too controversial for the SFA. They are rotten to the core.
