Was Ole the wrong choice?

I think the initial run of results were paving over the cracks. Our first XI simply isn't good enough to be higher than we are.

All you have to do is compare our current first XI with previous successful sides and the difference is there for all to see.

We need TOP TOP players who are driven to succeed.

I fear he might be right tbh. Should have waited to the end of the season before making a decision

so as a guy who hires and fires managers i'm sure jenas is spot on since he has huge experience in the field

No point worrying about it now.
He's the manager, give him a couple of transfer windows to clean out the dead wood, bring in his own players, and only then can people truly pass judgement.

and btw just imagine how far from top 4 we would be if mourinho was in charge

There was no reason to announce the deal until the summer which WAS bad acumen by Glazers.

However we have an identity thanks JJ, that has seen us well since 1945. Its a great and glorious identity which I am very proud off. To suggest that it cant work any more is absolute garbage from JJ. We have failed since fergie because we has 3 clowns who tried to move away from it and do it their own way, now the people left at the Club have forgotten what is. We just need a Board and D of F that will help Ole remind the fans supporters and the current crop of players especially what it is again and what it means to play for the Club. Like Ole is doing.

When Robby Savage agrees with him............
then you've got problems !

Should have waited until the summer imo

I can see why there was a reason to give him the job as we had a great winning run and beat PSG away from home so of course emotionally speaking from a fans PoV it was almost a no brainer

But as we’ve seen in recent weeks there might actually be a wider discussion to be had whether he’s the right guy for the job. We’ve given the job based on a high without seeing how he handles the low.

He has the job now so it’s going to have to do. Hopefully for his sake he starts well next season or else the doubts will only increase

how would that be different for any new manager that started in the summer?

I think he has a point about needing a new identity. You keep hearing ex-United players turned pundits like Gary Neville talking about them needing to play the "United way" and "traditions of the club". Just accept that Fergie has moved on as have the players that were under him.

Have faith in ole, he knows what is expected.

The one thing I agree on is what he says about the utd way, in regards saf, his shadow still looms large.

He may be half right as I think it was an emotional appointment. If Ole hadn't previously played for the club, I doubt he would have been appointed, based on his CV. Though that doesn't mean he can't be a success, if given the opportunity and if we make significant improvements to a stale squad, who seem to be going through the motions.

He's wide of the mark with Jose. Letting the opposition have the ball, waiting for them to make a mistake and doing the bare minimum to get by isn't ever going to be an effective long term strategy.

Who's JJ?

posted on 20/4/19

We've just gone through a horrendous set of fixtures, a terrible injury crisis, a clear depletion in fitness levels and still got to the QF of the CL, are very much still in the top four race, and all without Ole having had chance to sign a single player of his own.

I happen to think hiring Ole is the right approach. He represents a clear departure from the short-term big name managerial signings we've made that haven't really worked, and with the right infrastructure and time, can do what is needed to get us competing again.

JJ is hoping to get in an early "I told you so", and nothing more.

And Jenas believes he has done enough already to get the job, despite Ed Woodward targeting Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino

“I feel like there has been a huge turnaround.

“The players seem to be playing the Manchester United way, there is excitement back in the stadium, they’re scoring goals.

3 years and about 400 mill spent, but thats not enough time... Jose had to go.
Hes even wrong about Ed Woodward. His business acumen is quite stella, hes kept the UTD brand strong, but he shouldn't be making football decisions, step aside, bring in a director.

In answer to the OP,
Nobody knows yet, but it certainly appeared the right thing to do at the time, and we all hope it was.
