Was Ole the wrong choice?

United have been making poor decisions for a long time, and appointing someone with little managerial experience based on a good couple of months is another example of one.

Ron Solskjaer got plenty of managerial experience. In fact you could say he is our best appointment. He already knows a lot of our players from before as well. I actually wanted him to replace Moyes in December 2013. 5 years too late.

Sensational run, put us in contention for top 4, our point accumulation is up with there with the best in this country! We do have some idiots as fans. We lost to Barcelona playing Ashley Young because that's all we have, wake up and smell the coffee. If he gets a summer and fails next year, he gets the chop.

This sounds like an article written by someone with hurt feelings because they didn't like hearing the truth.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

You would have to be an utter moron to come to that conclusion.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's clearly triggered him emotionally
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It clearly hasn't.

He hasn't made an opinion either way. Were you born this stupid or have you had to work on it?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
there is clearly an opinion, sarcastically saying the 'oracle of football knowledge' and 'errr thanks for your input' sounds quite mocking and like he probably disagrees (or wants to disagree, but deep down he knows the article is sensible and true)

I think Jenas is wrong but he has a point. The decision to appoint should have been left till the end of the season. But I think OGS is a step in the right direction, rather than appointing another washed up big name manager.Give him a window then see how he's doing.

Fan favourite or not, if he gets the money being quoted, minimum requirement is top 4. We can't start to set standards low. Top 4, good run in one of the cup competitions like Semi final minimum or get the chop

Hoping we win our remaining games and shut these people up. If we get to 79 points we should get top 4 as our top 4 rivals are still in europe.

I couldn't see any logical reason as to why they gave ole the job before the end of the season. It's not as if he was going to go somewhere else if they didn't give him the job.
I hope he succeeds but I have my doubts.

I do agree that trying to recreate the Fergue era was a mistake.
=================

This hasn't really been the problem at all.

The problem was a complete lack of adequate succession planning for when Fergie/Gill would retire.

Obviously, the higher-ups could only wait until Fergie chose to retire, but prior to that, they should have been looking to bring a DoF in to work with Fergie, and they should have been looking at procuring a new manager either from within our own ranks (ala Zidane, Guardiola), or taking more time to get the post Fergie appointment correct. In hindsight, an interim manager after Fergie might have been an approach worth looking at whilst external candidates were better sounded out and a DoF put in place.

We need some stability - which is the just as important.

Ole was never first choice, but it does show that if the whole squad and the coaching staff pull together, we can get somewhere.

Ole can get this club moving forward but he needs the support from everyone involved.

Bit strange to call Jenas some sort of 'Oracle of football' I mean respect the guy more as a punditry than during his footballing days...And he did a good documentary watch about knife crime on the BBC.

This is where we last finished after having 26 points from 17 games as in 6th getting 60 points. We had 1 point deducted but the fact we already got more points with a lot of games left shows you how great OGS has done.

posted on 20/4/19

Let’s see how he does when he (hopefully- Fack off Ed and your galictico bollox it’s the managers call until we get a dof) signs the players he wants

Make it about football, not marketing and brand. That’s the cancer of footy. Sign players that fit, not those that further the utd brand..

posted on 20/4/19

If Mourinho hadn't done such a dreadful job then we would be pretty much clear in 3rd spot. I think if Mourinho got sacked after the Manchester derby defeat then if OGS had his amazing run we would be pretty much 3rd without any real worry for top 4.

Ole has done an outstanding job. We were not even in contention for top four due to the mess up by Jose.

Ole knows that there isn't a quick fix. We need to get the right players in, improve fitness and have players that will help push us on and improve while they're with us.

posted on 21/4/19

Fitness will improve massively once we get rid of players who don't try hard enough when it matters most. Was delighted to hear OGS call them out the other day. Too many players are cruising. I worried that that would continue but it looks like we might see them weeded out. No room for passengers when you're playing catch up

posted on 21/4/19

Amazingly the team in 2nd has lost 1 game and the team in 3rd has lost 11 games. Crazy season.

posted on 21/4/19

The team in 6th have sauntered through their season and can't run the length of themselves. But anyone who watched Jose's United was already aware of that

posted on 21/4/19

And the gap from second to third is massive. As is shown by the points gap in the league table. The fact we're a level or two further below isn't great

posted on 21/4/19

We are a far better team than Arsenal or Chelsea. The problem is these 2 teams have better performing keepers and way better finishing this season. If we created as few chances as Spurs or Arsenal we would be struggling for top half of the league this season.
