In one of those seasons he was competing against the best side ever assembled in the modern era... yep, easy that. 42 goal season we faced a good Chelsea side that had it all

Sure, his goals in the CL were important but did they lose some of the team aspect by bringing him in to try and guarantee them the CL?
Robb, i think both parties wanted the deal to happen knowing that they both didn't need each other.
But it was a good tactical move for him.
Juve with or without Ronaldo is still a very good side.
But in the CL it's always difficult to win it - with or without Ronaldo. So there is never any guarantee that you will win the CL.
