I have backed Martial to the Hill, guys like him, Rashford and Pogba they are not good enough. We are in cuckoo land if we think these guys are good enough. 250k a week farking walking around

I think we can all begrudgingly accept that Mourinho's complaints had some merit. The problem however was Mourinho's inability to keep it in house and deal with it appropriately. Digging out the players publicly in the way he too often did was only going to make things worse.

But the fact remains, the players are a combination of being not up to standard, and not compensating through hard work and effort.

Merrysupersteve has been saying for a while that the players are lazy and many, myself included, contested that claim. It increasingly looks like he was correct all along.

Truth is no one or thing is 100% to blame, the previous 3 managers all deserved to be sacked but at the same time the players didn’t do enough for any of them and need to take their share of the blame. Also, the players aren’t good enough, but they also aren’t performing well enough or caring to the level required. And on top of that Woodward is largely part of us making money but is also a massive problem with the running of the club. Things are rarely black and white but one things for sure, the clubs a f-cking mess.

We aren't privy to 95% of what goes on at a football club. We only see the fine 5%: 90 minutes of football once and sometimes twice a week.

It's not coincidence that when Ole came in, our running stats went up drastically - especially the sprinting stats. And it's no surprise either that we were the in-form team in the league for a good 10 or so games.

So it was perfectly reasonable to be cautious about certain proclamations of player-laziness. It looked like the players were fed up of the regime, rather than being uncommitted, hence the increased effort levels and performances under Ole. But we can now be a lot more certain that the conditions for the players to flourish are much improved. Players have spoken highly of Ole. Ole has spoken highly of the players. Phelan is in the mix. Young players have been getting game time. But the effort levels have clearly dropped.

I will add for balance the fact that a dip towards of the end of the season was predicted by many as it was clear out fitness levels are not as great as other teams. An injury crisis certainly didn't help matters.
