In that case we did well to save ourselves £40m.

This season you have.

City spent £70m in the summer.

Liverpool spent £200m in the summer.

Last summer Liverpool spent £150m. City spent £285m

Those figures over the last two seasons compare.

Couldn’t be bothered to look up uniteds spending 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We only spent because of revenue received from player sales though. City dont need to sell to buy. So your figures dont paint the true picture
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That’s not the point being made Rouge.

It isn’t about met spend. It’s about what has actually been spent...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And whats the point talking only about gross spend?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Probably just as valid as talking about net spent.

You’ll have to ask the person who made the original comment though. I’m only talking about spending money, not about how much money has been generated.

Which is what Liverpool needed to do. And what Liverpool have done incredibly well. Which was the original reason why this discussion came up - that is, United replicating what Liverpool have done.

It’s actually a complement to Liverpool. For some reason several of you have taken it as a slight.

United will never have to sell to buy. Its incomparable

Replicating the transfer policy i took as the type of player being bought. Not necessarily the biggest names available

posted on 22/4/19

Again, that’s not the point Rouge.

Liverpool buy within their means. Its vastly different to united and citys budget

You do realise you've spent more than United since the PL began

Also apparently United have admitted they're going to try to copy our transfer strategy to get back to the top.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spend shlt loads of money? I thought you copied that from them?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We sell, we buy, bring through youth, bring in others without any real challenge in the market, some were supposedly too old, some where supposedly shiittee.
We have lost 4 games in our last 70 premier league games, 1 all season, top of the league, and have reached the CL semis for the second year running.
Klopp is a fantastic manager.
Simple.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah it’s about time you ended up with a good team tbf

We have also received more in sales than them since the PL began.

We’ve been where utd are now before and for a long time, it only gets worse until you sort out your recruitment and manager. Its easier said than done though. It helps when your manager can make do with squad players and youth until your targets become available whilst getting rid of the deadwood on high wages and implementing a performance based wage structure.

Its taken klopp 4 years on a net spend of 20 odd million a season and id say the transformation of the squad he took over to the squad he has now is nothing short of a miracle.

Looking back at the squad he took over it probably wasnt even worth what he eventually for for coutinho.

He's built a really good side, made some shrewd buys and spent big where required, next step now is putting something in the cabinet
I'd say your best bet this season is the CL

While BR definitely improved the club on purchases made under his time, Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho etc., JK's selection have taken is even higher.

Since our last PL win in 1990, with the odd exception, buys haven't been so spectacular, other than in the price paid. United, on the other hand, either promoted the youths, or made astute buys. It now seems that, since BR's time, the successes v. Failures have been reversed.

How do you feel that it's United in charge of your biggest game of the season?

Despite the number of trophies, the clubs are heading in opposite directions to each other.

And same I have felt about all other games I've been hoping them to drop points in really, except this time there is a decent chance of it happening.

Forgetting your bitterness, if that’s possible, which squad would you rather have, United’s or Liverpool’s?

Those trophies mean very little when the likes of Everton are humiliating your current team.

It really isn’t our biggest game of the season. I know you’re trying to be clever, but it really doesn’t work for you....

Just saw pogba in ssn. I said few days back an Everton win would be good but the tonking they gave means United will now be fired up.

Not sure if they will beat city but they could get a point
