I have just listened to Neville and he is bang on, why the fark are we attacking Young??? it is due to the shambolic transfers we have done in recent times that has led to this guy playing RB. He goes there and does a job, he is not good enough but that's not his fault

Think we need a defender who can defend first and foremost. Our defending recently has been shambolic
Agreed... Trippier would probably work best in a back 3... With Shaw down the left side, that would not be the worst formation...
This is all hypothetical obviously... Personally I like the look of wan bissaka (like many). That along side Dalot and the returning Fosu mensah should give use enough options at right back not to need Young moving forward...
He's been awful recently. Is much better as a left back than right back imo. His crossing is infinitely better when cutting in from that side and playing an inswinger. I do think his days at the highest level are done, regardless.
Agree with Robb about his effort levels though. That should be a prerequisite at a club the size of United. But clearly isn't with this current group

If we don't buy a new right back and centre back in the summer, look forward to another schit season.
Oh and no to Trippier...
Not sure United will be in any position to buy a player of Trippiers quality with only Europa League to Offer. They may need to lower their sights a bit. Jenkinson of Arsenal could be a good buy.

I don't think anyone disputes the effort he puts in or that RB is not his natural position. It's plainly obvious though he is not good enough to play for us if we wish to move forward. He's kind of become a symbol of the horrible transfer strategy we've had for a long time now (even before Fergie left), in that we have a 33 year old converted winger playing at full and captaining the team. But yes he is that rubbish at full back and would swap him for trippier

Young is a prime example of where Utd's squad management has been so poor.
We have a dearth of 1st team full backs so instead of giving a chance to the youth lads we plant someone who isn't good enough to play in their career long position in instead.
One of the things LvG got right was playing players in the right position. Of the many academy lads he gave debuts to at Utd I think at least 6 have earned full international honours, Pereira, Keane, McNair, TFM, Varela, Rashford.
