Great, perfect height for the keeper but he guessed the right way
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Especially when they’re 9 foot tall.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Doesn't really matter how tall you are if you guess the wrong way!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
True 😆

First back to back wins since September, back to back clean sheets(just) and MON’s first away win, not a bad day all in all. A win against Bolton reserves and I guess it would be very difficult to relieve MON of his duties. Guess we will find out how good he really is.

Most research suggests Stoke were formed a few years later than their claim of 1873 so Forest, at 1875, would become the oldest football league club.

Stoke claim 1863 and Forest at 1865, surely?

Yes, ignore me. Just took the dogs out for a walk and got hyperthermia!

Maybe he might just know what he is doing?...

Stoke are apparently five or so years premature in their estimations by all accounts.

Maybe he also deserves a bit more credit then people are begrudgingly giving him.

No doubt he does although two games does not prove anything yet. And if he’d worked it out a bit earlier maybe we’d still be in a chance of play offs. I’m definitely feeling more positive about next season and we don’t know what’s going behind the scenes that would explain some of the odd line ups. But he does seem to have found a winning formula and it’s all about building team around Lolley and Carvalho. This formation potentially creates a spot for Osborn and would suit Byram if we can get him on another loan. Feel that we need someone to play alongside Yates. Assume we’ll clear out some of the midfield in the summer - Watson, Pep, Yacob, Bridcutt??

There was never any doubt him knowing what he was doing, the worry was 5 years as an International manager, had he lost contact with club football. Hopefully it has just taken him a while to find his feet. I just wish we had another half a dozen games to get a better picture. Maybe also Keane has scared the living daylights out of some of the slackers, at last.

That was just it, he needed time to find his feet, the same as any manager catapulted into a club mid-season into a situation where the previous manager had detached himself from the owners and left the situation a little rudderless. (Not blaming Karanka as it took two to tango).

The back to back wins don’t mean MoN is suddenly untouchable just as the previous bitty form shouldn’t have led to rabies calls for him to be hung from Trent Bridge..

When questioned on Pele post match, MoN stated that would be the last we would see of him as he is injured and his loan will expire.

Assume that means they’re focusing their energies on signing Colback?...

posted on 27/4/19

Hope so. Guess Pele hasn’t done enough then.

I would imagine the finances are a barrier to Pele being made permanent.

If Colback happens he will probably need to take a pay cut.

Get the feeling we will need to be sensible this summer

Pele will probably be on a decent contract at Monaco. It must be a barrier to even considering another loan move. Could be some kidology from MoN, though.

Unless a lower Prem team comes in for him, Colback will bagel to be realistic with his demands. He hasn’t exactly laid out a come and get me plea to Forest when he has been interviewed so I personally think we have seen the last of him as a Forest player.

With Colback still having a year left on his mag’s contract I doubt he will be bothered about leaving until probably January. I like him as a player but can’t accept his disciplinary record, 15 yellows a season is plain crazy, yes he is competitive and likes a tackle, but the suspensions always hurt.

I would also ask does MON rate him that highly as a midfielder as playing him as a left back just didn’t make sense, I also wonder what Colback thought about it.

posted on 28/4/19

my interpretation of that was they wanted a look at Yacob in cm but felt him and Colback were too similar. So moved Colback to LB as he was playing to well to drop although

Just a thought

Colback had played left back earlier in his career at Ipswich, I believe. It wasn’t a totally alien position for him as a left footer.

I would also imagine there was some kind of clause in the loan agreement that stated that he must play when fit.

Did everyone see what playing for Dirty Leeds has changed Patrick Bamford into yesterday?...

I'm tempted to say that 15 yellows for Colback is acceptable. It would depend on the reasons he has picked up a yellow card. Cards for dissent or kicking the ball away are not acceptable even just one. However as a defensive midfielder it is part of his job to stop breakaways by opponents and he will sometimes feel it necessary to 'take one for the team.'

This now is rather sadly an 'acceptable' part of the game. The same as standing in front of the ball to prevent a free kick being taken early, or running to the corner flag after scoring or just general time wasting. It would be nice if it wasn't so, but, apart from one or two isolated examples, the Corinthian spirit died before I started watching football.

Henri Lansbury was also criticised for picking up too many yellows while carrying out the same role.
