Avengers Endgame SPOILERS

Not a diehard fan either but I thought it was fantastic and even though some obvious plot holes pulled together all the movies nicely as if they had a plan all the way along which I loved. Great movie and good fun. Never to be taken too seriously

SPOILERS

Totally agree with the OP, very disappointing. Maybe not a 3/10, but more a 6/10 which is ok I suppose but I can’t comprehend why people are calling it ‘perfect’ or ‘best superhero movie ever’.

I found Infinity War a much, much better movie. Endgame dragged a lot, the beginning was incredibly slow and it just wouldn’t end.

Add to that there was way too much focus on Hawkeye and Gamora’s sister (forgot her name). Yet Thor and Hulk are now complete joke characters.

Then the people lost came back so late, none of them really had a role. Some of the BIG decisions at the end seemed quite predictable to me.

There were some good action scenes and of course some decent humour when it was done right, but very underwhelming.

- Abysmally poor treatment of Thor, reduced to a comic relief sideshow
- Abysmally poor treatment of the Hulk - One of the strongest characters of the MCU didn't fight more than 10secs in the 2 supposedly landmark movies of the MCU??
-Completely ruined Thanos - reduced to a caricature 'bad guy' after an excellently built character in IW
-Poor re-introduction of the vanished Avengers - seems most of the team wasn't even paid and they just used some stock footage from previous movies for their blink and you miss appearances
-Wasted potential of Capt Marvel - why introduce a character so powerful, and then not use them for >95% of the movie?
-Pacing - all over the place. Could easily have trimmed the fat and achieved a much more coherent product
More of a Cap+Stark movie than an Avengers movie.
-Time travel plotholes - hellloooo. I was OK with the main plan of stealing, snapping, restoring the stones. Hell, I am even OK with Cap getting the happy ending (assuming he stays in hiding his entire life and Carter's life decisions are not affected by the guy in her basement). But as soon as Thanos goes to the future and dies there, Uh Oh - did we just lose the entire Infinity War?? Maybe I am too dumb to understand this...

In the end, while the homage to the movies and characters was fine, I really wanted to have a movie I would rush to watch again (Like I did with IW). Sadly, they couldn't deliver this time.

The way i understood it was the moment someone went through the Quantum Realm,it started a new strand of the future.
So Infinity War would still happen, its just a never ending loop in that timeline. So theres still a 2012 Thanos going around trying to find the stones.

I thought, overall the film was very good, and a nice book end to the saga. but Infinity War is the better film. Didn't mind the choices made here.
I initially gave it an 8.5, but having thought about it, i still give it an 8.

How anyone can not mind the choice they made regarding what they did with Thor just says to me they’d literally be blindly happy with anything Marvel churn out.

Lets just call it creative differences.
I think the overall narrative where this 22nd film bookends the saga, has been told very well.
And for the most part enjoyable.
They made a risky choice. People have a problem with Prof Hulk.
I would’ve loved to seen more Hulk smash.
But just cos my opinion differs from yours doesnt mean i give a free pass to Marvel. It Doesn’t make me or you right. Its art at the end of the day. Its subjective.
You didnt like Thor letting himself go, there were bigger issues with the plot than Thor being fat.

What I don’t like is how these films just assume that the audience is only interested in Iron Man and Captain America.

It was one of the reasons I disliked the original X-Men movies, they just assumed everyone that went to watch the movie was a Wolverine fan. Even in this case, Wolverine had a massive fan base (I’m assuming as everyone kept wondering who would play him)

But in the Avengers, guys like Hulk, Thor and Spider-Man have massive, massive fan bases and at best these guys are getting lost in the shuffle and at worst they are being purposely played down to make others look better.

I really enjoyed it as a spectacle and had fun watching it, but agree that there was a lot of things that didn't really make sense and it felt very fan-servicey.

Caption America's ending makes no sense as he shouldn't be in that timeline based on their own rules they set out in the film, and I don't think it's in his nature to just sit around for 70 years whilst so much bad is happening in the world.

Thor spiralling into depression made sense but he was basically reduced to a joke character, and I don't get how he was able to beat gauntlet Thanos in IW, yet couldn't beat one with no stones in this film?

Was also surprised that more people didn't die given it was the big bad they've been building up to for 11 years.

Very good point, he also had 2 Hammers in this and Captain America and Iron Man helping him.

Infinity War just glides and there's constant stream of action interest

Endgame was all over the place, saying that I liked it and I'm going to watch it again to get a second viewpoint on it.

The problem here is at the moment, it's currently voted the 8th best movie of all time on IMDB (and you need a significant amount of votes for that). So clearly, people are taking it seriously.

I'd argue it's not even the 8th best movie in the MCU.

Agreed, I'd like to see it again, it had its moments. But will probably wait for it to come on Sky.

It wasn't awful but it's not a film I'll stick on at home and watch again and again like IW

Havent seen anyone mention this yet but Captain Marvel didnt bring much to this either - All I have learnt from the two films she has been in is that shes good to use as a human bullet

She;s pointless in Endgame, only thing she did was save Ironman and fight at the end.

Ha, I haven't seen Captain Marvel, so don't know her back story.

I don't mind her being over-powered, as long as you can use her correctly. I don't think they did in Endgame, but I will comment further once I've seen Captain Marvel.

If they start using Captain Marvel to tackle most of the problems the Avengers will face, the rest of the Avengers might as well just stay at home or go on holiday, they wouldn’t be needed.

I agree that in a team, if one person can do everything with one hand tied behind their back, it defeats the purpose of the team.

However, I think over-powered characters can work well too. It's down to the writing. With good writers and an engaging story, it could work in my opinion. I do think that the over-powered characters need a weakness though and that can easily be exploited by the villain,

I grew up with Marvel, collected the comics as a kid (still in my loft) I totally agree with this article, Endgame for me was a huge disappointment. Infinity War set up for something really special, and in the end it felt meh.

I agree time travel was lame, I truly thought Ant Man stuck in the quantum realm would have a major part to the story, but nah, so many things about this film wasn't needed, and in the end I left underwhelmed, especially after the epic Infinity War.

Thanos plan was crap, hed need to do it again at some point, depending on how faster the populations rebounded, we also dont know if it was half of every race that got killed, or half of the races in the universe were killed

posted on 19/5/19

I think it was half of all the universe, so it was pretty random across earth. Hawkeye lost his sons, wife and daughter. More avengers vanished than survived.
It was literally a lottery.

But having watched it again, man am i still disappointed.
Just way off the standard set by Infinity War.
Each to their own but I stand by my OP it's not a good movie.

It was a poor film. Plot holes galore. To be honest, it felt like it was all fan service. It is the worse of the Avengers movies.
