I take it Bonatini has continued to be woeful as he doesn't even get in your matchday squad?

Sum it up for you RJC - who ?

Goalkeeper (2)

Pantilimon
Steele

Full Backs (3)

Byram - SIGN / LOAN
Darikwa
Robinson

Centre-Backs (6)

Figueiredo
Milosevic
Wague
Dawson
Benalouane
Worrall

Defensive Midfielders (5)

Colback - SIGN / LOAN
Yacob
Yates
Guedioura
Pele - SIGN / LOAN

Attacking Midfielders (5)

Cash
Osborn
Carvalho
Lolley
Appiah

Strikers (3)

Grabban
Ansarifard
Soudani

In addition to that I'd say...LB / LWB, AM, FWD and a Goalie from the Academy.

Loan, Release or Sell the rest.

That's 28, but Appiah, Dawson and Guedioura will likely just bobble around the fringes.

I'd stick with the 3-5-2 ish formation.

Cheers

Getting Byram, Colback, and Pele next season would cost a lot of money. I think as Colback enters the last year of his contract at Newcastle they will be looking to sell. Byram is a bit risky injury wise have to be careful with that one. Pele I like a lot and I would make a big effort to bring him back.

I also should have mentioned that we should be looking to bring down the average age of the squad and our recruitment should concentrate on bringing in younger players from Leagues 1 and 2 who could if sold on make us a profit e.g. Britt

I not sure I would bomb Jordan Smith out, good back up

I would say the same with all the academy players, invest in them with good coaching and allow them to support the first team. It has to be more cost affective.

If I were to buy just one player, it would be a attacking midfielder with goals in his game to support the work Lolley and Carvalho who on their day are brilliant but over 46 game season we see one good day in about 3 or 4 games.

Other areas include striker as when Grabban is injured I don’t have huge trust in the others to fill the gap.

Finally, for the team to really improve we improved full backs on both sides, who will be fit season long.

There is a core in this squad that is top 6 material they just need a bit of help

Smith hasn't kept his place in goal for Mansfield of late; if he isn't deemed good enough for them, is he better than Steele?

posted on 1/5/19

That doesn’t necessarily mean he is not good enough, I would base it on what we have seen him to for us, he has potential

The goalkeeping situation is tricky. I happy for Pants to start as number 1 next season but would like an up and coming younger keeper to take over as cover. Steele could be released or Smith could go on loan again.

I agree we need a few more goals from midfield. We could try for Jota from Brum. He has caused us a lot of trouble in the past.

Ansarifard has done OK in the last couple of games and could do a job next season but he will need game time. Also Soudani has yet to show what he can do.

I wold keep Jordan Smith as a back-up but would prefer to see him go out on loan and get regular first team football and keep Steele as back-up.

Smith is onle 24 which is still very young for a goalkeeper. I think he is very good at shot stopping, but needs to be more commanding with crosses and organising a defence. A trait which Pantillimon seems strong at.

Well, I think all of us would have taken 9th place at the beginning of the season, especially after the last few seasons struggles against relegation.

We finished 8 points off the pray-offs, which, by coincidence, is the number of points we were robbed of by abysmal refereeing decisions (Leeds away for instance).

At the same time, I don't believe we would have got very far in the pray-offs. Even if we won promotion from the POs, I wouldn't have wanted to be embarrassed the way that Derby were in the Prem.

I knew I should have kept my money in my wallet. Paying top whack for a glorified training session against an already relegated side, I shouldn’t have seen the alarm bells. I seem to have picked poorly this season. Seen some shockingly poor games, such as QPR, Swansea and yesterday.

The team lacks a spark and isn’t dynamic enough. Of late, there seems to be a lack of willing runners and a lot of passing the buck in midfield. My lad took his mate to his first Forest match yesterday. He was hoping for an exciting performance to convince him to take up supporting the Reds. The team couldn’t have poured any more cold water on that idea if they’d diverted the Trent onto us.

I really want MoN to do well but I worry that he hasn’t got the full respect of the squad. Yesterday was an opportunity to go out all guns blazing and really give the fans something to get excited about. There were too many clean shirts out there at the final whistle.

posted on 6/5/19

I’m sure MoN would love to clear out a good proportion of this current squad. I’m sure there are several players who he would like to move on but the sticking points of conniving agents and contracts being wafted about will mean he will probably end up frustrated as many managers at this level usually are in the summer. As witnessed yesterday, there are so many modern players who seem happy to coast.

I have a feeling it is going to be a frustrating summer. I have a feeling Mendes will be liking to move Carvalho on. Lolley looked like he might have been saying goodbye when he was subbed. I hope I am wrong.

Only Henderson and Ward have been released from the seniors.

Tachtsidis has singed for Lecce. Found his level, I think.

Vellios has tweeted that he is looking forward to returning to Forest in June! Poor lad has had an underwhelming spell in Belgium.

Henderson and Ward are the only ones whose contract has expired this summer; so thats two down about ten more to go hopefully. I'm not counting Ariyibi and Iacovitti. They wouldn't have got anywhere near the first team squad.

I would prefer to stick with what we have rather than have a squad in excess of 30 (or even 26).

Nicko saying we are interested in Grosicki. I'd prefer O'Dowda based purely on age, although he may also cost less.

posted on 27/5/19

I like the look of Grosicki. He has looked decent in a poor Hull side.

posted on 28/5/19

So do I Will; but he is 30+ so past his best and on a downward curve. More susceptible to injury and longer recovery times.

O'Dowda on the other hand has the potential to get better therefore have a bigger resale value (like Joe Lolley).

posted on 28/5/19

The aim for Forest next season is top six. If they signed Grosicki, for example, and they achieved that then it would be money well spent. There are plenty of academy prospects coming through, such as Appiah and Johnson, who will push him hard and develop, why do they need another youngster in O’Dowda?

posted on 28/5/19

Also, if Forest were promoted and wanted to sell Grosicki back to a Championship club, for example, they’d more than make their money back.

Getting linked with a few wingers. I suspect Lolley to Villa will happen. They have the cash to make it happen. I think privately he will be wanting it to happen too. £15m is being mentioned. That seems a fair price and would allow some serious investment in the team. I would rather keep him and see what he can achieve for Forest next season, however.
