Do you have 4 dressing rooms?

posted on 2/5/19

What would be an even better way to help the visibility of the women's game would be for those in power to stop scheduling them up against the men's matches.

Whilst most Gooners were watching and listening to the first team getting bummed in the Midlands, the women were on the coast becoming Champions.

No that’s more a cupboard tbh

I think it is a ridiculous and patronising idea. Ladies' football exists in its own right and, from what I have seen, deservedly so.

Disagree tbh. I'm sure loads of women, and supporters of the women's game, would be more than up for a mixed match.

Not like the OP is asking for a shirts vs. skins knockabout.

You'd be better off scheduling the games back to back so you get to see both teams with the same ticket.

But in a 50-50 situation wouldn't the blokes have to hold back and say "After you, Miss" ?

posted on 2/5/19

Maybe. I'd certainly expect the chaps to lay their coats down across any muddy puddles were the weather to turn a little inclement.

Its an absolute no-win situation for the blokes. Crunch a woman and they are in the wrong for going in too hard. Go easy on them and they get criticised for being patronising.

At full time the guys can hand the women their kit to get washed. Makes perfect sense on every level.

How would we do that? 11 dived. Y two equally will we play with 1 extra/ less player on each team or would each team play one half with 6/5 split?

11 divided by two is 5.5

Honestly it's not that bad an idea if the men are straight back from hols and nowhere near the fitness levels that makes them better than the women.

posted on 2/5/19

What nonsense. First we let women have a break from all the kitchen work, then we let em step out the house for a breath of fresh air, and here they are attempting to play football? We've let women get away with far too much.

I would hate the idea, if the sport started out as mixed then fine but to do it now it would water down the mens sport. There is such a big gulf between the two, the women wouldn't even keep up with 16-18 year olds.

But I love how much support the women's game is getting these days, it's slowly improving

on another note, can you believe that Real Madrid and Dortmund do not have a women's team. It's not about equal rights but about having one in the community, but saying that I don't think Real have a youth program either

I didn't intend to be patronising but I can see why it might be interpreted that way. I think I'm just curious to see what such a game would look like. If each team had a 7/4 split of men/women I think it'd be a good exhibition match.

There is a mixed team who play in our 6 a side league. Two blokes and 6 lassess (2 subs) all on scholarships from America.

Technically they're very good. We started off giving them a yard and to be fair, they made us look like mugs at times.

It all changed though as soon as one of our lads chopped one in half. Easy sailing from there. Not because they cowered away, but because we realised it was fair to use our physiques as we would against men and we were far to strong for them.

Their keeper was unreal though.

I bet they'd get up straight away though and not roll around on the floor.
