Interesting to see what happens with our wing backs next season as Vinagre might become too good to keep out. Then it might be Doherty and Jonny competing for the right wing back position

Also, if Jonnys' game continues to improve at its present rate, it's not inconceivable that we could end up selling him back to either Real or Barca for €60m

Export tax?

The point was really that Atleti went a long way to bridging the gap in income from TV deals in a flash by making a huge mark up on a player that didn't spend a single day at work with them.

Sure Cinci could quickly round up some stats on Vinagre for us. My impression is that his passing remains a way off the standard required at the level we're now at despite the other very exciting elements he brings to a game. Involvement in the Europa league should mean the number of games he starts increases naturally but certainly possible that his all round game could click and we see him race forward. Saw Coady (the lad is effing magic) working on him a lot about his defensive duties/positioning last season.

Think final third passing is an area where Doherty is ahead of our other wing backs. The triangles he makes with Jimenez and Moutinho are wonderful.

Doherty is undroppable at current levels. Surprised other teams haven't been sniffing.

Think the bloke is an incredible role model in the way he's worked on and added to his game. Wouldn't be surprised to see him push on further over the summer. Sharper finishing could see him add more goals and I'm no coach but it feels like there's room for improvement in the way he brings the long rakes from Coady and Neves down. He's usually in acres of space so not the biggest issue but the technique he uses makes it a bit slow in terms of starting to move the ball forwards.

A few months ago I would have agreed with you about Vinagre lizard but when we saw him in the second half of the season his all round game looked a lot better and he had gained in strength. He is still only 20 and improving fast. He will be in the first team much more next season

It's mad really, the momentum we're seeing in terms of building a high quality squad. And it's awesome to see the broader impact of bringing in players like Jimenez and Moutinho in terms of their influence on other players. People like Doherty have probably learned loads from working with those guys every day.

Makes enough of a difference that all four clubs competing in both EUFA finals, Champions League and Europa, come from the same great country for the first time in history.

Given the large financial gap English clubs have had a very poor spell in Europe in recent years compared to Spain up until this term. Looks like the lull may be over but it takes more than one season to show that.

I agree. He's improving nicely. Think there's plenty more needed before he pushes either of the other two out of the team as first choice. Excited to see how quickly that happens.

They must be absolutely desperate to get someone decent in and bin off Trippier and Aurier.

Wouldn't be that surprised if he ended up not being a full back at all

Berra in the Hearts team for the Scottish Cup final today. Didn’t realise he was still playing

Berra struggled in England in the Championship. The top of Scottish football is about his level.

Would love to go to one of the European Away games next season. Not as if it will cost a fortune. Reading that for the away game at Juventus in the 70s it cost £25.50 for a package that covered air fare, coach transfer, overnight hotel and match ticket. Happily pay that nowadays

We need to maintain the number of home grown players in the squad and we are now being linked with a few including Jack Grealish if Villa lose tomorrow, Danny Wellbeck and James Maddison.

Surprised to see Maddison linked with other clubs, but the press seem to think he could be prised away from Leicester. Certainly take him if he was available

He cost what, around £15m and is one of our key players who is essential to the quick counter attacks. How much would it cost to get someone better?

I assume the links are with Spurs?

Brooks at Bournemouth, McNeil at Burnley and Hughes at Watford are other home grown players I would like to see us try for
