Just awful. Whenever we look like we’ve made a great decision as a club (appointing Rodgers) we seemingly follow it up with a dreadful one.

What on earth are Rudkin and Top thinking??

Welcome back, BS. Good to see you’re in better spirits.

Regarding Lee Congerton, I can’t say I’m particularly enamoured myself given both his record at recent clubs and what opposition fans say about him.

But perhaps a couple of things on the positive side:

He apparently has a history of spotting and recommending young talent, albeit going back a few years.

Also, Rodgers must be happy to welcome this appointment. If he felt Congerton was a problem, you’d think that those in charge at Leicester would listen to such concern.

To be fair the guy didn't have much to work with. I mean of you have a low budget, signings are gonna be hit and miss, which they were at Celtic.

A few decent signings and I think you could have a good season. Wolves are in the same boat next season as well.

How’s it going mate

Have you thought that Rodgers wanted him in the role?

Rodgers was manager of Liverpool when a lot of awful players were recruited by the club.

Welcome back BS. You’ve been missed and I hope you’re getting back on an even keel.

I share the same concerns as you and Dunge about Congerton, but not about the way our club is being run.

The more time goes on the more impressed I am with the club’s plan and execution. Our signings have actually been very good in the last couple of windows - it feels like our scouting has caught up with our progress. They were disjointed after we won the league.

Let’s hope this plan continues and Congerton is just charged with managing the great network we have to unearth more Tielemans like opportunities.

I do worry about Rodgers though. He may want to bring in “his men” in the summer, and I also worry he’ll bring 2-3 players from Scotland that may struggle in the step up.

But this is all conjecture right now. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what the summer brings.

Cheers Irish, alright pranks hope you’re keeping the cockneys at bay mate

Dunge, Mersey - yep agreed, concerns around Congerton - if we start seeing the same fuzzy thinking that upset Sunderland and Celtic fans then things could get ugly. Fortunately Walsh set up a fantastic scouting and recruitment network, continued u set Mancia that continues to this day. Let’s hipe this guy doesn’t facking ruin it

Mersey - I don’t think our club is being run. Ally. Far from it. Because of our owners we are in the best position we have been in for years. But there have been and continue to be mistakes made in senior roles. It’s what will hold us back from progressing any further than mid table in my view.

If Tielemans goes then we are back to struggling to create chances. He’s been a huge difference. If we don’t replace Tielemans adequately because we have recruited an absolute dud as head of recruitment then it’s back to the signings of the post title winning season. Let’s not forget we spent £60m on Slimani and Musa. Add £25m for Iheanacho and it’s clear our recruitment has been hit and miss.

We still have the wrong people in key roles. Ruskin being one of them and now Congerton. Puel was another mistake, although I supported what he was trying to do towards the end. We can’t really advance as a club until better decisions are made and better people are in the key roles within the club. That’s my view

Despite this, the future financially and in terms of the stadium and training facilities looks very bright. That’s different to moving things forward on the football pitch however and we haven’t really got that right for the last 2 years

It’s obvious Rodgers wanted him in the role. I don’t think Congerton was with Rodgers at Liverpool. They worked together at Chelsea and then Celtic I think

Great to see you back BS - I actually thought of you when I saw this news break and wondered what you’d be making of the dream team of Rudkin and Congerton.

From what I’ve read most fans from his previous clubs think that BRodgers is a good coach, but not great in the transfer market.

I’ve also seen very little written in support of Congerton. He seems to be very disliked at both Sunderland and Celtic. With nothing else to go on I have to be concerned about this appointment.

I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see. There will always be a few hits and misses but, as Mersey said, our strategy and signings haven’t been too bad since the dreadful summer of 2016. How much this bloke will change I really don’t know. I just hope this will turn out the same way as that other incredibly uninspiring hiring - Ranieri.

ffs. You were doing ok until this stupidity.

Good luck with Congerton. You’re welcome.

Yes, I thought that was a strange comment too.

Why would you be bothered if SPL players start turning up at Nottingham Forest's ground?

It’s unlikely many would step up to Championship level anyway.

You know what I mean mate. No disrespect to the SPL but it’s hardly likely that many Celtic players are going to help a PL club break into the top 7. Players from the SPL tend to go to the championship mainly.

Cheers Joby, downsouf, FFS - have been reading all the posts on here which keeps me smiling!

Joby - yeah it’s a real worry of mine, I agree the recruitment has been better but with the likes of Tielemans, Maguire and possibly Chilwell likely to leave - this could be a pivotal summer. The most important in the clubs recent history. Having a head of recruitment who seems to be resoundingly hated by both Celtic and Sunderland fans doesn’t inspire confidence

Fortunately a lot of preparation work has been done for this summers targets, it’s unlikely he will have much of an immediate impact. Longer term however and we could be left reeling

Fair enough.

We believe (fwiw) that the likes of Tierney could make it but you’ve got an excellent left back in Chilwell already.

Edouard might be one for the future but yeah, that’s about it
