Yeah and before that it was Championship winning form.

New manager bounce. When expectation set it we bottled it massively

You literally have no proof for that, it's what you want to believe.

We’ve won two games since he was appointed and they were both extremely poor performances where we could easily have dropped points in.

And while people are falling over themselves to give him a get out of jail free card for this season and only really judge him on next some of us have been looking for signs as to what might change next season and those signs have been few and far between.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This from you robb I think after the PSG game

"How are people feeling now about Ole getting the job? I did doubt the guy but I have to admit, he has surpassed a lot of my expectations"

----------------------------------------------------------------------

As was said earlier, it was an emotional night and not a time for emotional decisions to be made by the decision makers at the top. As we’ve seen since - relegation form
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He didn't get the job on just the strength of that result and he was exceeding all expectations including yours

So the signs were quite obviously more than few and far between

If the job was still up for grabs would you still give it to Ole based on the 5 months he’s been at the club?

Point is robb you were against him right from the start or from the time he started looking like he might be in the frame for the job
----------------------------------------------------------------------

‘Against him’ makes it sound like I dislike the guy or want him to fail which is ridiculous. I just looked at the appointment and based on logic I didn’t think it would be a good appointment. And as I look back on the appointment so far I think it’s not exactly a bad call and I’m sure if we woke up to news Ole had been sacked and Poch was taking over it wouldn’t exactly be the worst news for many people on here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one here backed Ole without some doubts... But you have used those doubts to pin your colours on the mast from minute one, seemingly because you backed Jose so fully and need to save face.

I think it's this part of it that people here dislike.

Neither of those two are realistic, though. And then your next port of call is Marcelino, which tells you really where we are right now with out options for management.

You’ve acknowledged the issue the club faces with recruitment due to our structural problems at the club yet still don’t seem to acknowledge it’s even bigger impact on recruiting managers.

Jose Mourinho and LVG are two of the most respected coaches in football. Both failed at the club. That will set alarm bells ringing to top coaches.

Well robb you wanted Jose appointed straight away after he was sacked after 5 months of relegation form at Chelsea

Problem with that theory is that I have had no issues at all with Jose being sacked. You still see people on here defending LVG yet I’ve never once said Jose was wrongly sacked.

I have no reason nor desire to save face. It’s literally the most straightforward thing ever - guy doubts unqualified guy and has the right to do so without it being called an agenda. I backed Moyes but learnt my lesson about unqualified guys taking such a huge role. And so far Ole isn’t filling me with any confidence for next season at all.

Yeah but Jose was one of the greatest managers of the past 20 years and had won a title the season before. He most certainly deserved the chance.

Ole isn’t even in the top 500 managers ever so it’s a silly comparison.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Marcelino is just someone that’s on my mind as he’s a guy who I’ve gone to see play live on numerous occasions this season and his sides are playing great stuff and transforming Valencia into a decent side again

Away from Marcelino and Simeone there are many better options than Ole. Even managers like Benitez would be safer hands and have the tactical nous to win us games with lesser players than who we might need under a lesser manager.

United board got carried away and thought the good little run Ole had for 10 weeks or so was enough evidence to give him the job. Paul Ince made a good point.

posted on 12/5/19

Wasn’t he nearly sacked earlier in the season for poor results and performances, though?

Benitez Ffs I’m gonna stop talking to you now.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, Benitez.

A guy doing a great job at Newcastle. Won a CL, built a great Valencia side. Tactically a master and used to working under a terrible ownership.

If you genuinely think Ole is a better choice than him then you are mental.

That’s exactly the problem with some of the people on this site.

Across many sites and many people in real life I’ve had some very good discussions about Benitez being the guy to take over. Not the only choice nor one I’ll die on a hill for but it’s generally gotten better responses than ‘I won’t bite’.

I can provide a huge amount of logic (yes, that word again) but if you can’t counter that logic it’s really your loss.

Of course you did.

These wouldn't happen to be the locals in Valencia by any chance?

So you think that rafa Benitez is so good that you should deny ole the opportunity of a full season with a potentially improved squad and structure around him if it means having rafa there instead, even though it's been made clear that no manager can thrive in the current setup?

posted on 12/5/19

Loving this thread

Actually would hate you lot to get Benitez, very much doubt that he would be offered whilst Fergie is in an executive chair which is a good thing.

Just the man to get Man U back into the champions league and he sure can spot a player..

Torres, Alonso, Mascherano, Arbeloa..

Anyway Man U fans have their pride and wouldn't want anyone affiliated with Liverpool to be their *cough* Matt *cough* Busby *cough* as manager.

Yes because Rafa is a vastly better manager than Ole and also has experience in working relative miracles under inept ownership.

You guys are proving my point for me actually. You roll your eyes at someone like Rafa who has his flaws but also his plus points yet defend an unproven entity like Ole.

It’s amazing really

It’s not even that. There’s a mutual hatred between Rafa and Manchester United. More chance of Pep ditching City for United. I’m not even joking.

Why not give ole a chance though, what's the worst case scenario compared to the best case scenario under rafa?
