Spurs over the sinking ship United every time for most players today unless they want lottery money.

The thing that’s worrying me is why we’re (reportedly obvs) buying players from clubs like Fulham and Everton????? Where did they finish??????
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes because that’s exactly how that works.

Dele = MK Dons
Kane = couldn’t hit a barn door in the lower leagues with the exception of millwall

Carroll and Defoe were in a West Ham team that got relegated.

Wijnaldum and Sissoko were Newcastles central midfielders when they were relegated in 2016

Mane and Bale were at Southampton

Ian Rush was at Wrexham

They will set a price of £40m thinking they can pull Man U’s pants down on him. Ultimately though you have a guy in a relegated club with a year left on his contract, who wants to stay in London and play in the CL. Unless Fulham want to lose him for nothing they’ll have to concede that the power lays with him and the buying club. Suspect a compromise will be made with Spurs, £28m or thereabouts.

He’s a quality young player, all the raw materials to be an excellent left wing back or attacking left sider. The last year of his career has been wasted, playing for a joke club who added about ten new players and changed managers 3 times in a season. He needs consistency, to be coached by a top coach and surrounded by quality players to fulfil his potential. He’ll get all that at Spurs.

agree with all that Ace, only 18 and a ton of potential

Ian Rush was actually at Chester before we signed him, he did go to Wrexham toward the end of his career though.

Exactly. Or Tielemans, Chilwell or Maddison from Leicester? Rice from West Ham?

There are some very good players at non top-six clubs who would do really well with us. Realistically, where else are we gonna get our signings from? The top six don’t tend to sell to each other - we don’t do business with Arsenal or Chelsea and are we gonna buy a player from Liverpool, City or Utd? Of course not. I’d rather young hungry players who are proving themselves in the Prem than cast offs from Madrid or PSG.

He only has 1 year left in his contract. This £40m nonsense is just that.

Not really, he’s under the age limit so would get a decent compo payment.

Hazard only has one year and is going for £86m.

I don’t want him at the expense of Danny Rose who is finally back to his best. But if Pochs plan is to move Davies inside when Toby goes and have Sessegnon as back up to Rose I think it’s a good idea.

This is a no brainer. Let's go and buy him and buy him early.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Eh? Rose is nearly 29 and has had a lot of injury problems. Davies is nowhere near dynamic enough to be considered a suitable understudy or successor, and we can’t rely on Rose to play 38 PL games plus CL and domestic cups. Sess is 18, homegrown with bags of potential. Signing him totally makes sense. Also don’t agree Rose is back to his best. He’s been playing well again, but he peaked in 16/17 and is unlikely to get back to that level.

As for Davies replacing Toby at CB - I’ll drive Poch to Juve myself if that’s what he’s gonna be expected to do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I prefer Davies at CB than LB, he is too slow these days for LB.

Danny Rose is the heart and soul of that team at times, he has more fight in him than most and games like Brighton when we were far too passive it was Danny driving us on.

Danny Rose is a great defender but one thing already that Sessegnon will improve on over him is in assists and goals. Consider that at age 18 and in his first season in the PL, he has more assists than Rose has had in any PL season.

If overseas move the compo is only £500k.

I definitely didn’t watch enough of Sessegnon this season to know if he’s worth that sort of money, but didn’t he sometimes struggle to even make the Fulham team? I know he’s still young but did he show enough in his first season in the premier league to convince people he could be the real deal?

He made 26 league starts and 35 overall appearances

We’ve been after him since his academy days so it’s no surprise we are continuing to go for him.

It’s not even about what he can bring right now it’s more about what he can do once he hits 21/22

posted on 14/5/19

If we have the money to do this and improve other areas then fair enough, is absolutely worth a punt considering his age

He shouldn't be a priority signing though
