Wayne Bridge Understands Chelsea

You guys don't seem to understand the competitive mindset I'm talking about.

posted on 15/5/19

But it’s irrelevant, because you also have to understand your own situation and that of your competitors. That’s exactly what Alex Ferguson did for three years when we were nowhere near the title. And I think he knows a bit about setting standards.

Do you think Sir Alex Ferguson ever celebrated 3rd place? Do you think he ever went into a season telling his players anything less than We're going for the title guys?

Maybe he celebrated 2nd like Mourinho does

You know what, I'm sorry for saying you won't go far in life, that was harsh of me, but I kind of feel like you're mocking the point I'm trying to make instead of understand it.

No he doesn't. I can 100% Guarantee you Mourinho has never once celebrated coming 2nd in his life.

No, but I doubt Chelsea’s manager is celebrating third place either. I don’t know what he told them, but he’d always stressed the point to the fans that it was a rebuild.

Why do you take those comments at face value? Are you simple?

posted on 15/5/19

I get the point, but it’s a simplistic one. If it continues the way it has been for Chelsea and the standards are different I can understand, but it’s not quite at that point either.

My issue is with everyone who's happy with 3rd. I dunno whether the manager is one of those or not. But regardless, this season hasn't been good enough.

It’s not been a bad one either. It’ll get worse when Hazard goes.

No contradiction. I knew about those comments (you've mentioned them many times today already) but I don't believe they're genuine. If you think they are, then you're kind of stupid actually.

We've been bad this season, especially second half. The fact that we made top 4 covers up that.

No, you're changing the goalposts because you have indirectly called Mourinho a failure and are desperately trying to backtrack.

The sad thing is, no one here has celebrated 3rd, you're just lashing out because we took United's spot in the CL, so really you've disrespected and shat on your idol for literally no reason atall

Football’s a strange game. A team can be bad but still end up having a season that isn’t actually that bad on the face of it. It’s usually Chelsea actually.

posted on 15/5/19

Mourinho's comments 100% weren't genuine. You're stupid if you think they were. like really.

This season is at best a stepping stone to better things. But there's no achievement in this season in itself. That's how I'm looking at it.

Wouldn’t disgrace with that too much. Problem being Chelsea are losing their best player, and may not be able to sign anyone, so it’s hard to see it being that much of a stepping stone to better things because of the situation the club finds itself in.

Unless they are allowed to buy players and have an unbelievable transfer window. I think Chelsea, United, Spurs and Arsenal are in similar situations right now going into the summer with the work they need to do to bridge the gap to the top.

I will be amazed if we don't make him sit out his contract if we can't get a stay. For all the things Marina gets wrong, she never sells unless the situation is right for us.
