The way I feel this morning I'd sell the bloody lot of 'em. What's the going rate for clowns these days?

This is a horrendous morning. It's going to take a long time to get over this.

The best thing we can do is try to focus on the future and next season.

Bielsa needs to stay. He has done an unbelievable job considering the really quite shocking form of the Director of Football.

His success rate on signings is around the 1 in 10 mark.

Big challenge will be finding clubs for the major failures.

This summer transfer window is the most important I can think of, maybe the most important in our history.

I am not one for risking the clubs finances, but with Bielsa surely only staying for next season at most unless we go up, we have to commit to giving him the best squad possible.

Get rid
Casilla
Berardi
Forshaw
Douglas
Alioski
Bamford
O’kane
Anita
Grot
Sacko
Ideguchi

Bielsa will know enough now from his U23s which ones he wants to step up.

Needs must, we have no money, going to have to sell a decent player to free up funds for decent player. Think we need:

Striker
Left back
CB

Pace

I agree with you Jonty that all of these players, at times, have been liabilities. But it's the EXPENSIVE liabilities that we can't afford to keep. Casilla and Bamford have done nothing to justify what they cost to buy - and God knows what wages they demand.

Orta has to stop going back to Boro, he’s blown 11.5 mill on Bamford and Forshaw alone.

Bielsa needs to drive recruitment and I would suggest that is done as much as possible from this league, from what he’s seen first hand this season.

Been hugely impressed with Philips, but, if we were to sell him and raise enough funds to buy in players BIELSA has chosen I’d feel more comfortable that Orta guttering it away.

Having said that,I really don’t want to sell Philips, but you get the idea.

Hard to see how our finances are going to stack up,especially with rent for ER kicking in soon.

I disagree with that list Jonty - some on there for sure, show them the door.

But a few of those players have comprised the side that had us top 2 for most of the season. It's all opinions of course, but for me i'd try to retain the nucleus of those that had us playing well, realistically until around the New Year, and supplement them with 3 or 4 quality additions.

We lack pace out wide, we lack a really good striker. I'd have a new centre back and probably a keeper.

Ultimately, if he stays, Bielsa will know what he wants - whether those above deliver is another matter. What's the odds he agrees to stay, then doesn't get the backing, then walks before season starts?

Getting new players in early, to learn his ways is essential. Alas I fear we'll be haggling over a striker to the wee small hours again, thinking we're forcing the selling clubs hand - when in actual fact we're backing ourselves into a corner.

i'm not going to haggle over which names on the list you supply should stay or go, that's purely down to perception of the players, but I really don't think we have the funds to get rid - or the ability to sell a lot for the amount we'd need to rebuild.

The key this summer is keeping the players who we value.

Need

New keeper
2 centre backs (Van der Hoorn and Clarke)
2 centre midfielders, box to box and and attacking
1 wing forward
2 strikers

Think we'll lose Roofe and Jansson.

Keep

Ayling
Cooper
Douglas
Berardi
Phillips
Klich
Forshaw
Roberts
Pablo
Alioski :/
Dallas :/
Roofe

Need a better bench as last nights was completely unacceptable.

Vof, everyone will have slightly different list, but if the bigger names I feel Douglas really didn’t deliver defensively or offensively, maybe worth keeping fur cover I guess, Bamford too hit or miss, Forshaw just average.

One of the saddest things is that we've seen the best of Pablo. He pushed himself to the limit – his age meant he was knackered two-thirds way through the season and we'll surely get less than that out of him next time round.

Also, why keep to new year? Bielsa makes big point of getting players in early to absorb his methods, id really look at bulk of work this summer not 3/4 in Jan, 1/2 at most but definitely getting your targets in and nit bringing in people who don’t slot in ie Casilla who can’t speak English.

For all of BPFs faults record for him was played 28 lost 6 Casilla was played 19 lost 9.

If bpf had continued in goal with his record that many were criticising we’d have been promoted.

Pablo should be used sparingly, not played for 90 mins every week.

Valid point Shaun. The position we most needed to strengthen was striker. Bamford has been an expensive mistake.

Phillips
Jansson
Roofe
Clarke

Suspect that if AR stays - and I did rumours that he'd be gone if we didn't get up - that we'll lose two of the above in order to fund future purchases.

Sadly, none of these are on the list of players we'd like to see gone...

Aren’t we getting £6m for Saiz

Casilla needs to learn, quickly, that he's not playing reserve level footy in Spain. He can't play around like he maybe did there and get away with it in this league. Players will give him far less time and space.

My fear is that his erratic performances have unsettled what was a settled defence for large parts of the season.

I believe biggest problem for Casilla is language. He can’t speak English, all his interviews need interpreter, in heat of battle communication is not effective.

First thing I’d do is get him learning the language, but I’d be looking at alternatives.

As stated on another thread we need to worry about

Pontus, Phillips and Roofe leaving.

Personally there aren’t many I’d keep (I know it sounds horrendous seeing as though we finished 3rd)

Keep (I’m not including U23s in the list)

Ayling - 2nd best player last night even though wasteful

Dallas - I’ve never been his biggest fan but What a performance, would still prefer natural LB (left footer)

Alioski - wasteful but a delight

Douglas - think people underestimate the balance he provides

Pontus - Obviously

Cooper - I don’t put it all on him last night, Keeper frailties made him slow down for the first and the second he probably didn’t realise he had cover

Pablo - faded HUGELY bright due to small squad more than anything, best player we have had in a decade.

Klich - hampered by having a defensive player next to him IMO, meaning he has to try more.

Phillips - my player of the season

Roofe - He has absolutely come of age this season and should be one of our two strikers next season.

Forshaw - a decent back up nothing more.

Roberts - will be our player of the season next year IMO

The rest of the senior players I’d ship out.

Important to start improving the squad immediately rather than finding excuses for waiting till the last minute to do deals. Learn from January's mistakes.

Also I recall reading last year how Bielsa's reputation would help attract the best loans from Premier clubs. It really didn't happen, but we must do better for next season.

I don't think charging out of your goal and getting caught in no mans land is to do with language if i'm honest. It's either over confidence or panicking. He tries to be to clever with passes and it causes chaos.

I think he could be a good keeper for us (or am I more full of wishful thinking?), he needs a summer to yes learn the lingo a bit more, but also realise he's in a tough league where tricks that fail will get punished.

To put this in perspective, if we can keep the manager I for once don't feel the need for wholesale changes.

Keeper:
BPF a good back up.
Cassila a big big problem. There is usually no way back after such recent issues.

Right back:
Ayling, after a period of getting back on it after injury looks back to his best.
Dallas and Shacks more than adequate back up.

Left back:
Alioski and Dallas suit our style from fb as they can play from deep and overlap with less demand on their lack of pace as seen on the wing. Douglas...Iffy

Centre back:
Cooper and Jansson indespensible. Not getting comments against Coops. Don't mind Berardi staying as back up but he's f'd me right off this time. Need another quality defender. One short

DM
Phillips is PL class.
Happy with Forshaw as back up

Attacking Centre Midfield
Klich went off the boil at the same time as our season.
Roberts is supremely talented but young and inconsistent
Shacks looks like a real find
Forshaw can cover when required
We need a proper 10 replacement for Saiz (Vydra) and further competition for Klich was needed but has possibly been covered by Shackleton.

Wingers:
Pablo been fantastic.
Harrison good moments but not good enough yet to start. Would have him back as squad option
Clarke superb talent but not the same after Boro away. Needs time.
Good cover across squad for emergencies
Need 1 quality pact winger to help us break teams down

Strikers
Roofe brilliant but gets injured and takes time to recover
Bamford is decent. Not convinced him and Leeds are right for each other.
We desperately need a proper striker who can finish. Imagine Chris Wood in this team

So after the waffle..In summary:
Goalkeeper
Defender cover
Number 10
Winger with pace and goals
Get Harrison back

Would have no issue finding a spot for Reece James who was good for Wigan. Looks a player
Proper striker

Why are people keeping on saying we need a replacement for Saiz? He is till our player & could be back playing for us next season.

posted on 16/5/19

Yorkie agree we don't need much. I think we need a GK, LB, Daniel James please (type player), Hernandez type player & a Striker.

Vof completely agree his running out is problem but if he’s running out and communicate in heat of moment with defender that’s big issue right there and we see that whether it’s rushing out or flapping at crosses.
