Tim Nash: “#Wolves are chasing Benfica's £10m-rated right back Andre Almeida”

This is why you don't go walking in the woods!!!

No idea what Benfica's balance sheet looks like but Jorge seems to tout most of their players around Europe every summer and gets big fees for quite a few of them. And the club just seems to then produce more young talent rather than spend most of that income on replacements. Porto and Ajax follow a similar model

As for Bale, unquestionably a top player but does seem to miss a fair few games with injury. I know somebody that's done some work with the Welsh squad and he is evidently one of the most decent and approachable guys in the game and remains down to earth despite the big money he has made

Bonatini on his way back from forest.

Don't have much of a pedigree according to Wiki.

Just reading that this guy had 12 assists and 2 goals last season which seems decent for a right back. Although latest story is that he plans signing a new contract with Benfica

Yes, that's being reported by a few sources this morning, including BBC, The Mirror, and Birmingham Mail.

Ryan Giles loan to Shrewsbury - would make sense.

posted on 23/5/19

Giles has certainly looked one of our better prospects and would be a great signing for Shrewsbury. Problem he has at Wolves is that he is unlikely to get selected ahead of Vinagre if we wanted to bring someone different in on the left

Seems that Fulham are interested in Cavaleiro. Surprised at that link. I would have thought after relegation that Fulham would be more interested in offloading a few rather than buying someone that would cost a few million

It appears that Fulham haven't learned much from their "Splash the cash" attitude of last season, bookies have them down as favourites to sign Dwight Gayle as well - he'll be another 8 figure sum

Gotta cash in on these fringe players and forget this nonsense about just adding to what we have. Sell sell sell to generate a decent wedge of cash to add to the kitty

The trouble is we need a bigger squad next season to cope with the increase in games. So we really shouldn't just sell, sell, sell unless we are adequately going to replace, replace, replace.

Gayle is on 50k a week according to what I read...Fulham obvs gambling on bouncing back whilst they have parachute money - good luck to them.

and yea sell the fringe players whilst they have a decent value, add that to whatever is in the kitty and bring in 3-4 very good players, would still leave the squad light on numbers but Jeff said he wanted to pad the squad out with the best of our youth anyway

Have to bear in mind too that Wolves are already committed to buying Jimenez for >£30m, and Dendoncker for around £15m.

Fully expect some 'try before you buy' loans again this summer. Its a policy that has worked well for the most part.

Sort of agree with both of those sentiments. We definitely need a slightly bigger squad (possibly 3 more), but having player who add nothing to the pool is of little value.

Much as I hate to say it, because I thought he had tremendous potential, I can't see the point of Costa staying. Last season we would have been no worse off if had he been out on loan, and had a squad of one less. Squad members whose only role is to fill a shirt would have been good enough once upon a time, but we have progressed from those days.

Cavaleiro is, I think, just marginally more valuable, as he was able to come on for Jota at 80 minutes and still bother the opposing defence to a degree. Would still offload for £5M+ though.

I'm reconsidering Traore as I said on the other article (can we please combine these two, I can't be @rsed to cross-reference the two, pain in the @rse).

Not transfer related but Patricio, Neves, Moutinho & Jota are all in the Portugal squad for the Nations League finals.

Not great for us that it means they won’t get much of a summer break. But at least it makes that tourney worth watching

The Neves rumours are building. I wouldn't entertain anything less than £60m, but I can't see him wanting to leave unless it's Barcelona or Real,

posted on 25/5/19

It would be really weird if a young player as good as Neves didn’t attract interest from other clubs. The only reason we would sell him is if we got a massive offer that gave us enough to bring three decent players and give us a stronger overall squad. But personally I hope we hold on to him and Jota as long as possible. They are special players now, at the peak of their careers with half a dozen years of improvement to come, there will be few better

Everton have signed Huddersfield's keeper Jonas Lossl on a 3 year contract.
After 'udders conceded 76 goals last season he must think all his birthdays have come at once
