If Spurs Win The CL....

I think they’ll do it! And that’s coming from a Liverpool fan!

Yeah I think they will win it as well. It’s like Chelsea in 2012. Their name seems to be written on the trophy - everything just going right for them. They certainly aren’t the best team in Europe but it’s a cup competition so who knows? Look at Wimbledon when they won the FA cup

It will be up there with Leicester for sure.

Occasionally the CL throws up flukes-Porto, inter. Hopefully spurs.

If they win it fair and square, ie not à dodgy Pen etc, then no it's not a fluke.

I don’t know - I mean a lot of things have come together for them. They weren’t even the best team in their group. They were incredibly lucky just to get through the group stage.

To be fair I’m not sure I want us to win it.

We won it 6 times, we won it 6 tiiiimes

In Madrid we won it 6 times.

Doesn’t flow as well as 5 times in Istanbul

Nah, I think the cream will rise to the top in the final. We’ll have a full squad, bar Keita, to choose from and the players won’t be complacent, they’ll be desperate to make up for last year. I just think we’ll have too much for them.

*This is just my opinion, not the views of Liverpool Football Club or the whole fan base.

Of course it won't. Spurs are a very good team, and that's why they're in the final of the CL. Leicester came from almost being relegated to winning the league. There's no comparison.

As a Spurs fan I still agree with the message to a point. Yet since the openimg of the new stadium the enigma surrounding it all is certainly reminiscent of our Glory Days when we beat Manchester City in the FA Cup Final in 1981 and again winning it in 1982 against 1982 and then beating Anderlecht at WHL in 1984 to win the UEFA Cup - a penalty shoot out save by the reserve goal keeper because Ray Clemence was out injured.
Sometimes it isn't so much as a "fluke" but rather a "meant to be" thing

Oh there’s a definite comparison. Leicester were relegation form due to the ineptness of Nigel Pearson - a side that had Vardy, Mahrez, Schmeichel and Drinkwater should have been nowhere near relegation.

Once we kicked him out and signed Kante, Fuchs and Okazaki who was in his prime back then, we had a very good team. Like Spurs.

But Spurs have had to rely on incredible amount of luck to somehow get into the final of Europe’s elite competition. You’re barely the 4th best team in the PL and should have been out at the group stage

Like I said, sometimes it’s written in the stars

Yeah that’s what I mean. It’s mean lt to be. All the omens are in place. It will be the most unlikely cup win since Wimbledon but fair play if you do it.

Leicester were 5000-1 to win the league
Spurs were 50-1 to win CL
Therefore spurs were 100 times more likely to win
It’s not comparable

Let me get this right Blackstarr.. you agree with your own question that Spurs would be a bigger fluke than Lei...??
Stop. You think the Foxes fluked the league? For a whole 9 months, they were That lucky?
Put respek on your boys name my guy!
The Foxes were fully deserving Champions. Now stop this crazy talk.
Oh yeh btw, Spurs been jammy as hell!
Good luck to them!

Even if you accept that Leicester were never relegation candidates and are more akin to the mid-table team they are now, it's still a bigger fluke.

Spurs are in the top 3 best teams in the league at the moment, and have been the past few seasons, when the league has been very strong too. Reaching the final of a CL has been done by teams as good, if not worse than us.

We’ve had a bit of luck but not as much as you’re making out, most of our luck came in getting out of the group. (Qualifying with eight points, Inter not beating PSV, Barca already qualified when they played us the second time).

Breaking down the knockout ties:

Dortmund: Went through fair and square, played them off the pitch at Wembley.

City: A very questionable penalty given against us in the first leg against probably the best team in Europe, which we went on to win 1-0. Second leg, scored three goals at The Emptihad, far from easy. Yes two VAR decisions went our way but they were correct.

Ajax: Deservedly went in 0-1 down at HT in the first leg, but outplayed them in the second half. Second leg, again went in at HT deservedly 2-0 down, but produced an excellent second half display, creating chance after chance and hitting the bar ourselves.

We also hit the post twice ourselves against Ajax by the way.

The part about us having lots of luck comes across very wummy to me. I don't know if that's intentional or not.

That’s just bookies odds. The bookies knew nothing about what Leicester were building - now I’m not saying any of us believed we could win the title, but Vichai was building towards becoming top 6 inside 3 seasons of being promoted.

Leicester were way way better than anyone knew. We were building a top 6 side and in a way the title win facking ruined it!!

What I’m saying at the end of the day is with the budget Spurs have got and considering that they’re barely the 4 best team in the PL - it’s a miracle if they win the CL. A true one off. Credit to them

I don’t wum - just ask Don. Serious posters only on my threads.

Ajax didn’t kill you off when they had the chance and thought they had done enough - so from that perspective it was all their own fault. But I still maintain you were very lucky to be even past the group stage

Edbo - City were way better than Spurs in that first leg but blew the penalty chance and other chances. Spurs did a smash and grab effectively with that Son goal. Ederson was horrific in both legs - the second leg in particular.

When Llorente scores using his hip and you get two VAR goals, you know it’s mean to be. You’re the modern day crazy gang if you win it

No chance mate, that First Leg against City was even. City did not create much at all. In fact it was a game of quite few chances.

Well going by your same logic it was all our own fault that we left it late to qualify out of the group because we should have beaten Inter and PSV earlier on.

And how are we barely the 4th best team in the league? We were 3rd last season, and 2nd the season before. We were in 3rd for a large portion of this season too, and were having to deal with injuries, as well as not having our own stadium.
