Do you know where all of Uniteds money has come from since the club was floated on the stock market? Pretty absurd comment.
Unfortunately I think you either get on board with it, or you support a lower/ non league side.
Even if it comes from an impeccable source it's still a pity imo. I liked it when it was more local, more down to the manager, not just who has the most money and can buy who they want. And I include us, this isn't really a dig at City (that would be a separate article) just that money changes everything. City used to be an eccentric club who everyone liked, now they are as per the article above, wonderful, but not as I remember them.
But I'm sure if I was a City fan I would be crowing today, pleased as punch.

I didn’t think it was 52. We are a good example. With the amount of money now involved in the game I think fans have to live, with at least a degree of having their heads in the sand. Because contrary to what hippo thinks. None of us actually know where all of the money has come from to run any club. Unless hippo has evidence otherwise.
Like I say you’d have to turn to the lower leagues I think nowadays. It is something I think about from time to time.

Let them have their tainted days in the sun. The whole world knows that without a Sheikh none of it is possible.
And it's still preferable to the dippers.

We know exactly where the money that has funded city's success has come from lol and it is an absolute stain on football and Britain that this was ever allowed to happen
It's a disgrace
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?
So how did Leicester do it?
The bitterness on here has cheered me up after the news of Vinny's departure.

Having a Billionaire owner who wrote of all your debts and then gave your manager a healthy transfer budget went some way I should imagine.
Not sure Leicester are the best example anyway given their a one off

What matters is where the money comes from
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it dosent. It’s money in general that’s ruined it..
There have always been big clubs and little clubs, it's the natural order of things. Centres of population, the big cities will naturally get more supporters, so more money, if you are from Truro you have a beautiful place to live, but you are never going to have premiership football on your doorstep.
But managers like Clough could turn the natural order on its head, or Bobby Robson, it's practically impossible now.
This isn't an article about ethics, it's a regret that times past won't be repeated. That a lad from Blackpool is never going to see an equivalent to Stanley Mathews unless some billionaire buys his club.

He's left to join a big club who don't need a Sheikh to be relevant in their domestic league. A step up for him.

To be fair, haven't United spent about 600 million in the last 3 years? Not really City's fault they've spent their money better than you
Pretty sure Pogba + Sanchez are the 2 highest paid players in the league, plus the other numerous occasions United have broke transfer records (de gea, ferdinand, berbatov, highest price for a teenager - rooney, pogba transfer record, wages record on Sanchez).
Don't get me wrong i'm a chelsea fan i can't talk but the fact is pretty much all clubs spend money and have to spend money but money doesn't guarantee success, so it's kind of a mute point saying teams only won things because of money, it's a contributing factor but isn't the defining factor.
Just see United in the last few years, and City/Pool in the last few years, you've all spent money, i think you guys just edge it and look at how crap you've been in comparison

Yeah spending money we generate is exactly the same as City getting a Sheikh.
Why didn't City compete for decades before the Sheikh came then if he's not that important?
We have spent poorly though. At least you got something right.
So what though, they've got a sheikh, we've got a russian, you've got a yank, arsenal and pool have yanks, none of us are british run
“Yeah spending money we generate is exactly the same as City getting a Sheikh.“
Think you’re missing the point of the OP. Stanley Matthews didn’t need to have an official noodle sponsor to generate revenue.
And ironically if it wasn't for United's potential takeover by Knighton that never happened in the end they never would of spent the 6 million on transfer fees which pretty much helped define that season, kept Fergie in a job and kick-started United's dominance
So if it wasn't for a takeover link who knows what would of happened, but lets not waste time trying to re-write history.
The main crux is, yes money is a contributing factor but you still need everything else to go with it, hence why the majority of clubs who spend big still tend to fail regardless
Football is a business, that's why we have professional and amataur versions of what is basically the same game.
All businesses want to thrive and their competitors will use almost any means to gain an edge but success ultimately lies with the product you're offering.
If you want to remove the Glass Ceiling in the Premier League, the last thing you do is introduce investment limits that will scare off people putting money in clubs like Everton or perhaps Villa who did have a rich backer but failed.
