I think most City fans would have hoped so too hafi. I assume he doesn’t think his body is up to another year of Premier League football. That, and leaving now really is leaving with a bang.

Its the end of a contract, he's been offered his dream retirement package in managing and playing for his boyhood club just as Rooney did (playing wise).Its a foot on the managerial ladder with owners willing to back him and I would imagine domestically Pep is just a phone call away.
Judging by his statement he's known for a while and as he's an honourable upfront sort of bloke so have City. For all the players and coaches to have kept this under wraps shows the amount of respect he commands at City.

Also if he sees no problems in going back then cutting his teeth in managing in Belgium might well lead to a future of going back again when Pep moves on in 10 years.
