I thought the same thing. Always players up and coming that need scouting.

There is the possibility that the profile of the players that we were scouting for has now changed with the change of manager? Jose was more likely to want ready made players, whilst Ole is be the sound of it looking more at players that have the majority of their career ahead of them. Therefore it may be that the scouting has been tweaked since his arrival.

Not concerned at all.

If he means it how I read it then it seems that 'right players' means ones that'll fit in to what he's trying to do rather than shoehorning a vanity signing in.*

*I'm not against a top class player being signed though if they fit into the ethos.

I'd hope the club's scouting network is always open. Not all leagues in the world run the same as the PL.

I'm sure the immediate targets are pretty much good to go (in terms of starting negotiations) but nothing wrong in taking time either to get it right.

I get that bit as I said, I'd have expected both the club AND manager to have prior knowledge of the truly top young players around.

For example, everyone in the game knew about Rooney way before he hit the headlines.

Yes... Around the world different leagues run to different schedules

Scandinavia play through the summer, south America runs at different times too

Then there's the summer International competitions, south America and Africa are this year... Nations leagues

Under 17 and under 21s tournaments etc

I'd say it would be strange if we weren't constantly scouting worldwide throughout the year

But then I'm not a moron like you RDD
