She has been both politically inept and dishonest to a remarkable degree. But I'd still put Cameron ahead of her as the fundamental architect of our current plight. He gave us austerity - a hard-right political project based on a lie about how the deficit had been caused by overspending rather than the global crash. He peddled the idea of a 'broken Britain' (laughable when you compare a decade ago with the aftermath of nearly ten years of Tory rule). It was Cameron who arrogantly believed he could wing the referendum, gambling the country's stability to neutralise a political problem in his party, and failing to understand the deep unhappiness created by his deep cuts to the state.
Cameron handed over to May a horribly polarised country and an impossibly divided party and parliament. There was no neat way of resolving this. May was dealt an awful hand. And she played it awfully.
Johnson is going to be worse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a good post. But under May's leadership we've endured Windrush, where a man actually died of stress because he was told he lived here illegally, and sanctioning posters telling citizens of the EU to 'go home'.
We've had cuts to public services and knife crime soar across the country and the capital, with the Met itself blaming her cutting down on officers as the reason for it occurring. Mental health has been neglected completely, the NHS has been further hampered and to top it off she's forced a botched deal through parliament three times when she knew it was dead from the beginning and wasted valuable time in trying to get Brexit fixed quicker. A colossal failure in every single department.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm certainly not going to defend May, but worth pointing out that Windrush came to light when she was PM, but the seeds were sown when she was serving as Home Secretary under Cameron. And austerity was the brainchild of Cameron & Osborne, and all the human suffering and rises in crime we are seeing now come from the gradual unfolding of those policies over years. May was part of that government, so completely complicit in it. And having inherited those policies, she didn't turn away from them.
How could I forget the fact that the fifth largest economy in the world had a UN report claiming 15 million of its citizens are living in destitute conditions. This includes millions of children!!
May has to take full responsibility for the atrocities that have happened throughout her tenure. Atrocities such as poverty, the rise of food banks, increased knife crime, Wedding Day Winners, increase in hate crimes etc.
Cameron's tweet back in 2015 saying vote for the Tories for a strong and stable government or risk chaos with Ed Milliband, is surely now the worst prediction of all time
Still think that May did the best she could.
From the beginning on she hadnt the best of chances to bring a deal with the EU over the line. Juncker and co. told you that cherry picking have to come to an end.
Mrs. May never able to bring a deal in your favour over the line and no one else could have done it.
So that means UK will go without a deal or having a second referendum to stop the madness.
UK Politics like most countries is in such dire situation. There are no top candidates nor parties that stand out as real leaders to take us in the right direction. (A bit like United). It would have been great to see both Tories and Labour to break in half, paving the way for some young centrist MPs to come out of the shadow of the traditional power dynamics that exist in the existing parties.
The estimated average age of Conservative Party members is 73.
UK life expectancy is just under 81.
And the Conservative Party membership is about to choose the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Worst PM in history?
Possibly but that still goes to Maggie I reckon.
I wouldnt bat an eyelid if TM got hit by a bus though tbh. Awful human being.
Careful what we wish for.
"The estimated average age of Conservative Party members is 73."
That's just because young people are so fed up and out of touch with politics, there's no want to be a member of a party.

Labour has more members than any party in Europe and many of them are young.
Labour are as bad as the Tories, for different reasons.
It makes sense that more young people will sway toward the left, but Labour made a mess of their last stint (I guess Blair wasn't exactly a Labour leader).
British politics are a complete mess.
There's a mess and then there's a Tory mess. UK is royally facked after a decade of their awful governing

It's estimated 120k deaths can be linked to austerity.
Luckily the debt is down and the top 1% have not doubled their wealth.
Anyone see that programme about Thatcher the other night
Interesting comments from Hesletine about how she had nothing but contempt for people from her own social background who hadn't "made it" in life
She was a fvcking scvmbag.
Section 28 just about sums her up and that's before you get onto mining, the destruction of the North and Ireland.
Whilst Boris would be a disaster it should also strengthen the argument for Scottish Independence so bring it on.
