I'll be down at Lords on Tuesday.

Already nervous thinking about it.

Need to win the toss and bat first.
We look vulnerable chasing.

Time to drown the sorrows

Afghanistan was never going to get anything over 300.
We should have put them in to bat, and quickly chased down the total. Win the game professionally.

Breaking the sixes record still gets you 2 pts.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

But it increased our net run rate. Batting first and scoreboard pressure has been the best way to win at this tournament.

Assuming we will bowl a team out and be able to chase it down quickly shows less more arrogance and less professionalism than taking the best option to win and increase your NRR.

England’s wc campaign starts from Tuesday now. I saw a record that stated Eng haven’t beaten India, Aus and NZ since 1992 in wc matches. And all these 3 teams are no walk overs

I think India are the most consistent team, but England have the fire power to beat anyone on their day. I feel like we are like the old Windies teams at the moment, powerful yet unpredictable.

Does it come as a surprise to anyone that England are struggling in the World Cup? As an Englishman, let me answer that: No. The England team's biggest enemy was always going to be over-confidence and complacency. In living memory, in any team sport, how many times have we seen the home teams of England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland play to their potential, never mind above it, when it's come to the crunch? We crumble under pressure and then inevitably fall back on claims of wretched luck or bad refereeing, when in reality the real culprit is lack of character. I'd love the England cricket team to get it together and win the WC but history suggests otherwise...

We seem to lack a bit of nuance. We needed the middle order to knuckle down and play themselves in and none did apart from Stokes. The order seems to be bish bash bosh whatever the circumstances. I fear we were lulled into complacency by victory over Afghanistan thinking we can hit our way out of any trouble... why not order two or three batters to slow down a bit and feel their way in? The pressure is on now. We have dropped 4 points we would have marked as givens. Maybe the pressure will focus minds?

embarrassed to say I completely missed the fact we were playing Sri Lanka yesterday...just seen it on the sports news

we skittle them out for not a lot & then get owned by Malinga again...now this might sound like sour grapes...but despite his action being deemed legal...I don't like it, never have

That said - on current form we should be winning that

I will be watching on Tuesday...get Warner & Finch early we should be fine

It might be unorthodox but it's a perfectly legal action

What on earth happened to England yesterday? Very unprofessional.

India clear favourites now. You can understand one shock but two shows we are struggling to cope with the pressure.

Need a win on Tuesday to get some confidence back.

Given the history of English cricket - in particular in world cups. How on earth are people concluding the pak or Lanka defeats are “shocks”....

2007WC - SL Defeated Eng, 2011WC - SL Defeated Eng, 2015WC - SL Defeated Eng, 2019WC - SL Defeated Eng....... 4th Consecutive Win For Srilanka against England In World Cup.

All good beating sides in meaningless odi series, cup competitions a complete different ball game.

What does results at previous world cups have to do with anything? England right now and a far superior team to Pakistan and Sri Lanka. England were 1/12 to win yesterday. It was a shock that we didn't.

posted on 22/6/19

England were superior on paper to Lanka and pak in some of the previous games too over the years - especially in champions trophy 17. England have always had the potential of a collapse / weakness in major tournaments. Element of that aspect still remain... Consistent with previous world cups, although do agree they’ve got a better team - but not been tried and tested on the big stage.

Good start by the Afghans. Hope they can restore a bit of pride today.
