NK create a new Ashes thread. Leave this as the WC thread. Might not ever happen again.

Good.

Have idiots like Jacob Rees Mogg trying to make it political.

Will leave this as the world cup celebration thread.

Nothing better to see Choosan and Sheikh cry for many more years at this result.

Looks like that overthrow should not have counted. Apparently Stokes and Rashid needed to have crossed before the throw was taken for it to count and they didnt cross for the 2nd run.

More umpire incompetence.

The overthrow should have counted. The argument is that it should have been 5 runs instead of six; as they had only completed one run when it was thrown.

I have never known that to the case about crossing though. For example, in a match I was playing in last Saturday, we ran a quick three and the throw came in from the boundary to the wicket keeper; I was comfortably in at that end (cause I is rapid bro) so the wicketkeeper threw at the stumps at the non-strikers end. He missed and we managed to complete a fourth run before it crossed the boundary. We were awarded 8 runs from the panel umpire.

So I guess the rules are a little bit murky on this or not well known amongst umpires.

Think the rules are clear on it and you’d expect the umpires and players to know them fully. Should haven been 5 runs not 6. Sums up the World Cup nicely from ab umpires perspective - generally they’ve been very very average

Only the non English officials. The English are world class.

To be fair, if Stokes knew he needed more in the final 2 balls, he would’ve gone for more I’m assuming
