World cup similar to 92 , where the winners lost matches as well . One team dominated in both WC's in league stage: India and Nzl , losing only one game, but the dominant team losing in semis in both WC. Luck contributed to winner in both WC. Pakistan got one point from a game where they were bundled out for only 73 in 92 and luck contributed to English success.

Not sure how it was controversial. Umpires checked on ruling of the overthrows and Stokes player the percentages after that.

Winner on boundaries scored was set at the start of the tournament.

Were Eng the best side in the WC PTID? You can’t really say that when they lost 3 matches, of which 2 were against much lesser teams.

Anyway there is no point of ifs and buts. The one thing that impresses me most is Eng didn’t care a thing about 50overs 4 years ago and that turn around from them. From planning out to changing their approach completely is what stands out for me. They are a fearless team and this win (albeit many people may or may not fully accept it 😂😂) will inspire generations in England as well as other teams. Teams will start playing one days differently to how they have played it in the last decade or so to remain competitive and this will make the WC tournaments more interesting.

The win will help step the quality of cricket up again. As the Aussies dragged test cricket up from scoring 2 an over to 4/5and over this England team will drag the one day game to 7/8 an over.

India fans always have a bee in their bonnet. They are the most thin skinned of any sports fans.

My favourite is seeing India fans who were born in England, moaning about England having players who were born in other countries. The irony in that is fantastic.

Cricket will be better without India.

Sheikh started off well, but then completely ruined his mystique by saying he was neutral

Like a villain saying in the middle of movie "By the way, I am only pretending to be bad"

Ruined it for me

Choo was consistent and persistent, he owned the semis and final, PTID was a star during the Group Stages

Good point.

Special mention to lefty who's not been seen since Kohli was LBW in the semi after another knockout failure for the worlds greatest batsman.

I think its only fair that everyone posts at least once on this thread every day to remind choo we won because of the umpires. Its only fair.
And that India still have a 75/25 chance for sheikh.

Why no third place playoff? Sure the takeaways and bars of the UK could lose staff for one day.

India should be given a plate for winning the Group Stages

I do like Lefty, really hope he is ok. Not been seen for days now, just hope he's ok
