Madness not to sell. They’ll only go elsewhere..... thing is Radz is putting all his eggs in one basket - giving it one final shot for next season on peanuts before he walks.... won’t get another opportunity or offer like this.
He was 45 minutes away from the playoff final, ofcourse he'll want to stay and try again. Just cant be doing with selling good players to fund our campaign.
There is always a cost to these loans, but that money is obscene, could have bought dan james outright just about for that.
Loan budget is £5m, am I right in thinking that?
What is the £5m made up of, is it fees paid to the club who the player is registered to? Is it wages or a combination of the two?
I thought we were only due to pay for Brown when he started playing, did that include appearances for the U23's? Were we essentially paying to get Chelsea's man fit again?
Blackman returned back to his host club when he broke his leg and Baker played half the season.
Only person who you can say offered anything like value for money was Harrison but if we are paying over £1.25m for him, I am not sure he was VFM.
Was the loan budget offset by money saved when others went out on loan or were we paying their wages as well?
Anyone fill me in on how loans work cos I do not see how the figures add up.
Don’t think loans have a set structure
It’s the positioning of power has to who comes off best
Take Eunan O’Kane - here we have a league 1 or 2 footballer on championship wages. We want rid of him ASAP but can’t sell him so the only option is to loan out. The clubs in for him can’t afford a loan fee and can’t afford his wages so they part contribute and we take basically what we can get.
On the other hand premier teams loaning down to championship have more power - they have players who can make a real difference in the league and assume can get loan fees as well as contribution to wages. Plenty of clubs would have wanted a Tammy Abraham so the loan will have cost villa a fair bit.
Those 4 players we got will be on good money so just contributing 50% of wages would cost millions
Have always said that loans are a false economy for us, getting crocked loans even more so.
Re brown... we started paying in jan... when he was declared ‘fit’. Whether it was triggered by an u23 appearance, match day squad appearance, or just agreement between the clubs, I’m not sure.

Useless loans too
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Derby - Wilson, Mount, Tomori
Wigan - James, Robinson
Villa - Abraham, Mings, Tanzuebe, Johnson
Sheff U - Hogan, Madine, Henderson
WBA - Barnes, Adarabioyo
To name the obvious ones.
We had the worst bunch
The reality is we have to sell.
This is where it gets difficult to discuss.
There is no way we can allow a core group of players to leave. The spine of the team is Jansson, Cooper, Phillips, Hernandez and Roofe
You then have key players who perhaps wouldn't create much value. Ayling, Alioski, Roberts
Then you have decent squad options who again wouldn't fetch much - Berardi, Dallas etc
So to then discuss players who haven't been SIGNIFICANT yet would be a shame to lose. The obvious one is Clarke. I would hate to lose him. Local, immensely talented and the world at his feet. BUT, not a regular and if we got a good offer..Is there a chance of a deal and a loan back.
Sometimes you have to sacrifice.
Forshaw...I expect he is on a bit...Same with Douglas. I would be tempted to cash in if we could.
Bamford. He does score. But not convinced he takes enough chances. Would someone buy him for our outlay?
Its never as simple as we sometimes like to say. For example: 6m for him and 5m for him mean we have 11m.
Personally, I would stick with the keeper. He was edgy in a few games but was otherwise decent.
I want a cover centre back as Jansson and Cooper do miss a few. I don't mind if thats a loan.
We desperately need a number 10. Could we go back for Vydra - He would fit perfectly into this system and isn't getting game time at Burnley. Likely 10m outlay? If that was our only summer signing, I could accept that.
Ideally need a winger or 2 as well. I wasn't too happy with any of last seasons loans to be honest. The lad Sims at Southampton has a bit of pace and could be a good option.
There was obviously the link to James but he looks to be downgrading to Man U.
Shaun raises a good point there.

Cant see you no more neither
No club would buy Berardi Forshaw Dallas
The problem we have is its the spine that is the asset that is worth the money.
