Why do you think he hasn't been employed of late....just wondering

Up to 2010 he won 5 titles out of an avaliable six and two CLs alongside it.

Since then he's won 2 titles out of an avaliable nine with no CLs alongside it.

Not rocket science is it?

From 2010 onwards is more impressive since those titles were won as underdogs.

DDA, I saw a comment on another platform which sums up why I generally think of the Kante situation.

He basically said the reason Kante at RCM is looking at a problem is because the lack of goals at LCM. Which is what I agree with, we weren't really bemoaning Kante playing there for the brief period Loftus was scoring for fun and we never use to complain about Tiago/Essien rubbish goal ratios or Ballack not being as prolific as in Germany (08 run in aside) because Frank would make those lost numbers up himself.

While I agree his current position isn't his absolute best role (that would be in a midfield 2 with him pushing and someone sitting in behind) in the context of the current system I think he's playing in the best role for him and the period RLC was on form that came to the fore as we had the perfect midfield balance.
-------------------------------------------------------
All true. But as much as fans completely miss the point of what makes Kante the player he is by wanting him to play DM, it's interesting to think about ways of deploying him where he never advances beyond the half way line. It's an intriguing hypothetical debate.

I look at it like this, his biggest asset is having the dynamism and energy to allow his team to play a two man midfield against threes without being overrun! There must be a way to set up a tactic where playing him in a sort of half back role allows one or both of your center backs to push up & wide occupying deep lying playmaker roles/which in a 433 causes a chain reaction allowing the CM's to float and creating overloads - it's playing with a back 4 but having the advantages of playing with a five. It's very Bielsary but I bet there's a way to pull it off with a player like Kante in your team.

Wahl

Have you even considered the possibility Mourinho wouldn't want to come back?

posted on 1/6/19

If that's the case then whatever, I'll respect his decision.

MOURINHO admits he needs to adapt to the modern game before returning to management.

Well, at least he's come to that realisation...
Still forbidden.
