City played more Premier League teams in their domestic cup double than Liverpool did when they won both competitions in 2001.

Community Sheild is recognised as an official honour in the game, so officially it would be quadruple of trophies won.

I personally don't care whether people want to argue whether we 3 trophies and one glorified friendly, or simply class it as 4 trophies won.

Either way, it doesn't detract from winning the three major trophies in English football. Something never achieved before.

This city team is better than our 2001 team thats for sure. Not even close.

But come on, Burton Albion, Oxford, Rotherham, Newport? Ffs

You miss the point. Shall we devalue the achievements of Liverpool’s 2001 success for the exact same reason you’re attempting to devalue City’s success this year?

If the Community Shield is now irrelevent then so is the European Super Cup for the same reasons.

You can devalue as you see fit based on the disparity of quality between the two teams.

The luck of the draw benefitted City hugely when you look at the teams played against in earlier rounds compared to City’s squad.

I have no intention of devaluing it. That’s what you’re doing.

So go right ahead. You want to devalue Liverpool’s achievement as you see fit?

Crusaders, Trabzonspor, St Etienne, Zurich and Borussia MG. 9 games including 2 defeats. In those days it was harder to get into European cup than to win it.

Is there a trophy for scraping the barrel?

posted on 6/6/19

I hope so. They can add it to the Top at Christmas title and that’s a treble of their own this season.

Although they did have an easy run in two of them...

You do know that St Etienne and Moenchengladbach were good teams back then?

Much like Forest and Villa were as they won European cups.

Best you don't denigrate trophies you haven't won Doris.

For the record City have the best squad in the league, there's no dispute about that, so while we would have wanted to win the league having performed brilliantly, it would have meant a league and European cup double.

Man city lacked a bit of patience v Spurs and professionalism that would have seen you through.

Klopp saw what Spurs were capable of and made sure we didn't make the same mistakes City did.

Well made up for Klopp that he's led us to be champions of Europe once more. The man deserves it.

Champions of England is becoming a bit cliche for Man City, guess you'd all want the European cup to stake a claim for greatness.

As of now Liverpool are the champions of Europe. it is sensational.

“Klopp saw what Spurs were capable of and made sure we didn't make the same mistakes City did.“

Not sure I agree with that, I didn’t think it was tactical errors or prowess in either game really, more individual errors. You played like we did in the first leg, we just missed the penalty.

City were playing with an air of super confidence in the home leg.

We just let them huff and puff and saw the game through. No need to dazzle, just get over the line and get the trophy home.

Not really.

Even he couldn’t do anything about a dodgy referee and a dubious “handball”

You were €hit, we were unlucky, it happens.

We go again.

I did think we were very unlucky in that game not to complete the comeback twice (and it’s equally one of the best and worse games I’ve seen live!).

How do you say we were crap? You needed a goal from the first minute and your first shot on target was in the 74th minute.

Think you lot were crap mate on that count.

Also dubious handball.. Sissoko has his arm up and out, Mane did go to play the ball against his arm, and missed, it was only when Sissoko moved his arm down that he gave himself control of the ball

Regardless, we still had both our central defenders up in your box when Origi finished off his left peg.

Pep picked a weak starting XI for the first leg and City paid the price.
