Well, and it is a shocker. Cos he cant even say it was lucky. He got destroyed.
Complacency. Didnt have the aggression. Did Ruiz mentally get to him by being so nice?
But fair play AJ. Humble man. Said all the right things.
And if he just stayed back with the jabs instead of trying to rush for the kill, he wouldn’t of got caught.

But whats really interesting, is that, AJ never recovered from that 3rd round knockdown.
He was shook. Kept asking questions in the corner. It was like he was lost.
This is now a cloud over his head, as to whether he has the mental capacity to overcome this.
But no way around it, he got completely destroyed.

Fair play to Ruiz. First Mexican Champ. Fully deserved.
All we need is Dave Allen to win a World title, and we will have the ‘Nicest’ boxing match-up of all time...

Agree, Joshua didn't give enough respect to Ruiz's fast hands. After that first knock down, Joshua needed to box smarter, keep his distance, and carefully wait for the opportunities to unleash.

I’ve always felt there’s a vulnerability to Joshua. That vulnerability is often his naivety in the ring to try and throw bombs when he’s hurt or trying to finish an opponent early.

He got away with it against an over the hill Klitschko, got away with it against Whyte as well. He was also unconvincing against Povetkin but did enough. Just think there’s a fragility to him if you can hang in there and absorb his power - which isn’t easy to do

But yeah - it wasn’t even close, not as of it was a points decision, he got smashed. No doubt he will put it right in the rematch but he needs to work on his weaknesses to contend with Fury and Wilder. Fury would just outbox him and Wilder just needs one punch in most cases

Just saw the fight and have to question Joshua’s stamina.
I mean Ruiz looks a bag of unhealthy flab but seemingly had more gas in the tank than the chiseled 6 feet 6 ex champ.

Ruiz is surprisingly fast and has a lot of power. Sure AJ has been dropped a few times in his career, but he's still a big guy to drop, and no one has done it more times in a fight than Ruiz did. Biggest shock in boxing for past 20 years at least. Also it's a bad look for British boxing as yet again an undefeated boxer goes to America for their debut and gets destroyed.

But heavyweight division has got an extra dimension to it now. Ruiz vs Wilder is needed for unification, and I hope Ruiz can get Wilder's title, because Wilder isn't a great boxer. Fury is clearly the best out there right now, don't see him losing like AJ did.

He was seriously unfit. He needs a new team and trainer. I was really embarrassed for him

Any vid he posts on social media of his training is usually just lifting weights with a rope round his neck or something

Needs to get on the fackin treadmill my Nan wouldn’t gas out as quickly as him and she’s 86.

The left hook to the "fuse bix" Absolutely did him. He never recovered from that.

Joshua was extremely naive and has not learned from the Whyte and Klitschko fights. Ruiz was clearly not badly hurt in the 3rd, his eyes were clear when he was on the floor and he was steady on his legs getting up. Joshua was foolish to think he could end it in the 3rd, he stood on the inside and traded with the faster man and paid the price. Shot to the temple scrambled him and he never really recovered.

On that showing Ruiz would take Wilder apart on the inside as well, Fury would stay away from him.

Joshua needs to box Ruiz on the outside in the rematch and not engage on the inside at all, Ruiz should have been eating jabs and right hands all night.

i expected a lewis-tua type performance but it was shocking how little ring knowledge Joshua displayed, ive said a few times even those first few rounds he was telegraphing his punchers, tbf didn't expect ruiz to be as powerful as he was(fair play) but its clear he's someone who actually focuses on the right type of training, his combo's were brilliant when he had aj in trouble where as aj just wildly lunged at him at the 1st kd

I hope the fight takes place back on Andy Ruiz's home turf, be it LA or Mexico.

If AJ wants the belts back he should take them back on his opponents turf like anyone else who lost the title.

It annoyed me when Hearn was banking on the rematch being back in the UK.

The rematch will definitely be in the UK because that’s what Sky will demand

this, looked like he went in to finish ruiz and ruiz got him with counter punch, he was looking fine up until that point

"fighter beats athlete" shocker

AJ is slow and laboured and does not have the killer instinct of a pure fighter.

Ruiz showed his fighting instincts and AJ was not interested whatsoever.

Ruiz was ridiculed because of his physique and his respect for AJ and I for one am pleased the hype train for AJ is coming to an end.

After all of this it was AJ who was gassed not the "flabby" Ruiz.

Hearn's face while he was being obliterated was a picture.

Just imagine what Wilder would do to AJ with his speed and power. No wonder Hearn wants AJ to stay away from him.

Hearn wants AJ to stay away from Wilder?!
With all the shenanigans going on, how do you arrive at that conclusion?
Think its pretty obvious Wilder is doing the duck running.

Maybe because Wilder is possibly faster and more powerful than Ruiz and would put Joshua to sleep rather than him quitting on his feet

Neither promoter really wants that fight. If Hearn really wanted to be could make it happen. He might have to make concessions but it could be done.
