Personally for me if Frankie does go I wish him all the best, think Chelsea are making a big mistake but I have no love for empire so let em burn. I wish Frank n Jody well.
I'd like to keep Jody but imagine him, FF and JT might come as a package.
I'm a bit over the managerial merry go round mi sen. I'd like to see the powers that be set up a structure that can withstand the wax and wan of managerial ego's, fads, ideas and tactics.
Below is my blueprint based solely on my own footballing prejudice and if anyone differs on it they are dead to me...
Overarching philosophy:
The Derby Way which I think is attacking, passing football rooted in the total football of teams like Barca, Ajaz etc. A default of 4-3-3 and players in every position that can pass the flukeing thing.
Director of Football/ High Performance/General Manager:
I feel like massive steps have been made in this area recently and gone are the days of a tokenistic DoF.
I think this dude or dudette should be responsible for coordinating the following areas:
Academy
Recruitment/Transfers/Scouting
1st Team Coaching Staff
Fitness - Strength and Conditioning.
Match Technical Analysis
If we have an overarching vision of good attacking football then I think we can all pull together and create a more seamless club. I also think we can afford to spend less money on an established name and have a structure to employ up and coming, hungry and modern thinking coaching staff. Not personalities or dinosaurs.
Maybe we can build contacts with other total football sympathetic clubs on tut continent. Which can help us get a few loans and maybe swap coaching strategies and techniques.
Also, think we should invest more in local coaching and maybe work closer with Non League clubs in the local area: Alfreton, Matlock Town, Belper, Gresley, Notts Forest etc. etc.
Really don't want to see another manager come in request another set of players to play his way only for him to leave and leave us with players that don't fit into the next managers thinking.
Ya dig mi duckies???
I don’t agree with the idea that a seamless structure is the way forward. The manager is the key element in football. Look at Klopp, Pochetino, Fergie, Clough Senior. They stamp their personalities on their clubs and without them it crumbles. The problem with Lampard is he is never likely to be a long-term appointment and ideally we need someone to be like an Eddie Howe or a Sean Dyche, a good fit for their respective clubs and seemingly content to remain there. Watford are the only example in the modern English game of a club that can apparently switch its head coach and not suffer. That’s probably just luck which will eventually run out.
I hope Lampard sees out his contract at least. I have no idea who we should go for if he leaves.
I'll give Bowyer until Christmas, when Newcastle will come in for him. đ¤
Ah feck this I'm done with football.
I'll be on the sports relief board if anyone's asking.
If Frank goes, good luck to him. I hope Chelsea make good financial reparations. I also hope Frank's loans to Derby will include - MM and FTh.
As to who we would get to take over? I have not a clue who I would want and you can't tell anyway until he's ensconced and therefore a fixture - for good or bad. But the manager is all important as has been demonstrated very clearly this season.
Lee Bowyer seems to be a nonentity. Why would we want him? Maybe he's cheap and MM is fed up of throwing his cash away.
The tragedy of Frank leaving is that his re-building ideas will just flounder. He probably doesn't fancy chancing his arm again and would prefer the investment funds he would get at Chelsea. He's a risk taker by nature so why not take the Oligarch cash?
He’s not yet gone as far as I can see, just froth on the click bait sites. I don’t doubt he would want it if offered but Roman has always gone for experienced managers to date so I would still be a bit surprised if Frank is Chelsea manager in August
And I’m never wrong about this stuff âšī¸
Wicklow's right its's a load of boIlocks.
Is it in the Daily Mail. If so - forget it it won't happen. They have invariably been wrong on big issues.
Daily Mail, Sun, London evening papers. All reputable sources. đ¤
Might be ball locks just as Vidals says Frankie is unlikely to be long term so just thinking of post FF. I’m okay with him staying.
Think a manager is important but would like some connection in terms of playing style from one to the next. Also think as a club we have to be clever get up and coming ones or ones on the cheap.
Charlton have an excellent academy. Bowyer seems a fan of the diamond, that’s all I know. How can you tell if a manger’s ready??? It’s s toughie.
A manger is ready when it's full of hay.
What if the hay is of dubious quality? Or full of straw or perhaps those foam things that sometimes come in boxes?
The manger is full but is it ready?? đ¤ˇâī¸
Btw Wellies, OP headline of the year, brilliant
Cheers Igor still stressing about this Manger business though, get the sense Vidals doesn't really care.
