Trippier was overrated for the longest time and ended up probably being a little underrated - common consensus seems to be that he went from being great to being terrible. In reality he was neither of those things.

Let’s be real here Rose would’ve gone last season if it didn’t come out with his mental health. He confirmed this himself.

Things have never been right since that bad injury he got v Sunderland.

So in theory we got a extra year than we thought.

So, it appears it`s the same old Levy, balancing the books every window. I said when the window opened I expected a break even or fairly small positive net spend, and I stick by that.

Talk of 100m - 150m net spends was pure fantasy.

Selling Rose is a risk, but again he is at an age when Levy likes to cash in. Bringing in Sessegnon to replace him is no guarantee of improvement, I`m not sure Sess is quite at Rose`s level yet.

He was okay as back up to Walker. Wasnt good enough for first choice after Walker left and was meh and last season he was certainly terrible.

Always thought he was a starter for a bottom half side but if Atleti want him then fair enough

Yeah I agree. I have always loved Rose, he epitomises everything I expect from a pro on the pitch with aggressiveness and energy levels.

Though one can’t help think he is just too outspoken for Poch’s liking and he might now feel like it’s a good time to mix things up and move Rose on.

Poch as we all know has a big emphasis on player Mentality. If something is off and doesn’t appear to improve, it is usually the beginning of the end.

Perhaps Poch feels Rose would become too disgruntled as he ages only playing a bit part squad role.

Who will ever really know?

I remember getting abuse when I wanted him & Davies sold and better players bought in as back ( similar style to Rose & Walker )

I think it was pretty obvious we’d only have a small negative net spend.

When you factor in most though eriksen, Toby & trippier were Likely to go that’s over £120m right there

I was one of them, purely because at the time I was deluded to the fact rose and Walker would stay retaining their high standards. They were ridiculous that season before Walker left.

Really hope Trippier fires a parting shot at some of the thick Spurs fans some day. Obviously they are going to lose their heads and act like female dogs.

Yeah the reaction to him signing a contract was awful.

We know what kind of fullback succeeds in this system

Davies and trippier arent that kind of fullback - solid backups and competent fullbacks in general, but dont have the athleticism to really excel as starters

Who will Sandys new scapegoat be? I'm sure he has a few lined up
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most likely whoever steps in at right back. Especially if it's Foyth. I just don't see that being a long term solution. He doesn't seem to have the right attributes for the position at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think very highly if Foyth, and he has a big, big future at the very top level.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For what it's worth, I meant he'll be scapegoated generally. Not by you specifically.

Foyth for DM

I hope we have a proper plan, I get the feeling replacing experienced players with inexperienced ones, and other players with no zero PL experience, may result in a flawed transition and a season of adaptation.

£20m isn't alot of money. People will want to praise Levy but besides simply getting rid of Trippier that's a very good deal for Atletico

It’s a decent price for a 29 year old who just had a very poor season.

Although I’ve seen it’s £25m in most places
