In other news, i see the Lyon chairman is touting NDombele around, name dropping PSG.
Clearly a chairman trying to drum up interest in their player and get a bidding war going, which is fine, but does perhaps point to a lack of wider interest in NDombele. He's already name dropped Juve a few weeks back
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lyon manager has always been doing that. He is a shrewd businessman and always has players on windows display Loves a bidding war!

Just don't think it does.....Has been playing for a side thats been challenging in the top 4 for the past 4 years, had chances to make domestic finals & has just played in the champs league final. He's never expressed any unhappiness at Spurs or Living in London. He's one of Poch's key guys and plays whenever he's fit. He's scored as many crucial goals as anyone (I'v lost count of the amount of winners he's scored or set up in tigh 1-0 wins over the past few years..... The one factor that makes no sense is the 70K a week he's on.
I cant help feeling if we'd have offered him north of 175K a week or close to Kane money (fair value for one of the best number 10s in the game) at any point in the past 12 months he would have signed it.
Like you said.......Who knows but on the face of it the money sticks out like a sore thumb
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's on £70k a week because he has rejected our improved offers.
He has clearly engineered this situation where all his options are now open.
Any smart player/agent will have seen that if negotiating against Levy then you need things stacked in your favour. If Eriksen had 2 or 3 years left and said he wanted a new challenge, we'd be asking £150m and he likely wouldnt get the move.
He has weighed up 'low' wages for a season or 2 against the ability to be in control of his destiny and decided to take the latter. He can now sit and wait for whatever offer comes along and decide whether its right for him or not. We have little say as he's almost worthless to us after this summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with all that.... Fair play to him. That's the nature of the game today. There is a degree of risk to the player as well (risk of injury without the protection of a LT contract). The reality is if you want to keep your best or at least get top dollar... you gotta get them locked down on big money/ LT deals. The problem we have now is that Eriksen is in no rush and because we have no clarity as to whats available for new players, that might hamper us in our plans moving forward.
The first deal of the summer (whatever & whenever that might be might tell us a lot about the state of the club... Will be buy before we sell ? will be leverage the Stadium/ TV Revs to try and make statement/ Beat the competition to targets ??? The signs are good.. N'Dombele, Lo Celsso, Sessegnon etc but until Levy gets one or two done I think its right be suspicious. Bidding below buy-out clauses is all well and good but its not like these targets are below the radar. If you are gonna elevate your ambitions/ targets we are gonna have to start acting like the big boys (If you believe the reports......City have identify Rodri as a player they need & activated the clause. We all know What Liverpool needed to pay for VVD etc) Don't think anyone and Anfield is unhappy about prices paid now

Levy should've given him a deal that either matched Kane or as close as possible to Kane's.

Exactly. If £80m is the going rate for a decent (albeit British) centre half, then how can anyone expect to pick up a good player for sub-£50m any more
Still think Pogba is the key to this whole window. Wherever he ends up will dictate what RM, Juve & United all do & that will have a trickle down effect to us. Cant see us identifying a target and going "all out" to get him. I fear its gonna be a long window and it wont all be because of Levy

We don't know what's been offered. We can guess, we can read what the Sun says, we dont know though.
Son's last deal was reportedly £150k a week. Pretty sure that Eriksen would get offered upwards of that as he's more senior and a key player.
This Jack Clarke boy is he being considered for the first team? I see he only had 5 starts and 20 off the bench for
Leeds.
