Ah ffs spurs why didnt you win the league in 2015/16 or 16/17 that really would have been the game changer for spurs

Walker in central midfield actually made me angry.

Yeah but leicester freak season was so typically when spurs had a good chance.

Yes 2016/17 was the one, 17 wins and 2 draws from all of our league home games. Madness.

Facking chelsea

Slow starts. That’s the reason. That, and both league winners being teams that weren’t in Europe.

I don’t begrudge Leicester their title win - we weren’t ready at that point.

But there’s no question in my mind we were the best team in the league in 16/17. Walker and Rose bombing forward, Toby, Dier & Jan at the back. Wanyama added to the midfield was basically our 15/16 team on steroids. Harry netted 29 PL goals, Dele 18 in all comps.

We got a slow start and Chelsea won 10 straight games in the Autumn while we and everyone elsewhere were playing CL football. From Xmas onward nobody accrued more points than us, we beat Chelsea with ease 2-0 at WHL, we were the best team, but we just could bridge that gap they’d made.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The reason we didn't push Leicester closer was the West Ham away and Arsenal at home games. They came within 4 days of each other and had we won either we would have gone top.

Sanchez half hit shot that bobbled through Hugos hands to give 10 man Arsenal a draw at the Lane still makes me wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat.

Eriksen signed a new contract yet?

We didn’t win the league because we’re Spurs and we always f** up when it truly matters. Always so close, yet so far with Tottenham. CL last year same thing. All that hard work in getting there and in true Spurs fashion, we conceded a penalty in the 1st minute, which effectively lost us the game as Liverpool were never going to concede after that. Season after season when it truly matters, Spurs fail to produce and take the bull by the horns. It’s about mentality with this club and until we get the monkey off our backs, we will continue to fail consistently.

The 15/16 season we left it late to bring in some forwards and had no real back up for Kane. We all knew we needed them and brought in Son and N'Jie after the season had already started. This was no more illustrated than when we played Stoke in the second game and replaced Kane in the second half with Lamela and subsequently drew the game after being 2-0 up.

N'Jie obviously turned out to be an underwhelming signing and Son needed more time to improve as you'd expect, but was seen as a back up striker by the club for Kane.

Should have got a proper striker then, made signings earlier and then we may well have got off to a better start which would have pushed us closer to Leicester.

So what you’re saying is we should’ve bought on a defender instead?

The defence was an issue as well and you can even attribute blame to Poch if you want but the fact is we had no real replacement for Kane at that time. Lamela was seen as the nearest alternative.

Could have done and that's why I said you can throw blame at Poch, but if you're going into the start of a season and Kane is your only option up front, then you're not giving yourself the best chance. Too little ambition shown at a time when we knew we needed better strength in that department.

Funnily enough we can fast forward 3 seasons later and Kane is still our only real striker.

2 assists still only 1 goal in the game though, still not convincing me.

At least he wont be at arsenal next season after impressing Madrid
