Nah, i wanna cover a lot of it for the birds more than the usual suspects, Botswana probably number one on my list but will spend at least a month travelling other nations and it might happen here in a couple of months actually, torn between travelling through a chunk of SE Asia or hitting a chunk of Africa but we have to wait til the missus switches jobs.

I heard Thailand is best for the birds. Although I also heard you have to double check the gender to be sure.

To those who mentioned Egypt, what was good about it? And what was bad about it?

All I remember is Karl Pilkington complaining about the nappies flying around by the pyramids.

I find that happens to me a lot when I go somewhere with a completely different cuisine, for the first few days and then my body gets used to it.

I had the shats right in the middle of the desert in Turkmenistan, like 130 degrees, sleeping in tents, no facilities whatsoever and it was pouring out of me, you literally had to go find a dune and squat, the bugs were all over it before you had finished. Awful experience

My younger brother was doing a bit of travelling and was at the beach in Bali when he tried to ride a wave. The wave knocked him off his feet and he fell face down and hit the sea bed, tore the inside of his mouth.

Went to hospital out there and was told it would cost about £10k to treat as he hadn't booked travel insurance, so he had to cut his trip short and book a flight back to Blighty to get it fixed on the NHS.

Checked his itinerary on the flight back home and realised he had booked insurance after all

I agree about Costa Rica ... been there 3 times and will be going again. Only time I've seen a Harpy Eagle.
And a Mountain Lion close up ... just lying down by a stream having an after lunch nap. Dunno what it had eaten, but it wasn't me!
Been too many other places to mention, oh yes.. The Great Barrier Reef.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

High on my wish list is to see a wild Harpy, seen one caged in Brazil and was mesmerized. Spend a lot of my life chasing birds around the USA.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not the kind of bird that would be happy in a cage.
Why was it caged?

No idea, i would like to think it was a rescue but that is likely not the case in a backward thinking place like Brazil when it comes to nature.

Reminds me now of a place i visited in China one time, i think it was near Guilin but can't remember, but anyway, the guide said that there was a tiger rehabilitation center and they allowed them to 'hunt' and so on before releasing them.

The place held hundreds of tigers and a certain species of bear, i forget the name now, but anyway the place was horrific and these tigers for the most part were never going anywhere. I did get to see one 'hunt', by that it was released into a large fenced pasture with a cow in the middle, it would have been comical if it were not so pitiful but after plenty of chasing around in circles the Tiger figured out the cow had nowhere to go and eventually launched itself onto its back but never brought it down really, just hung to its neck for fifteen minutes before the 'helpers' came in to end the misery, at one point the tiger is running away from the cow which was then shot while the chinese are chasing both in a buggy. Madness!!

Also is anyone a nervous flyer bit still travels a lot? I really don't like it in planes atall but if I let it get the better of me I wouldn't have had half the life experiences I currently do.

So I bite the bullet.

Because their's a few deranged nutters on here and the thought of them knowing where I am makes me feeling uneasy to put it mildly
