If thae fvkers had won there would be no JA.
My da and his brothers were steel workers/scaffolders. They built and assembled the mulberry harbours that let the ships land and unload at the beaches.
I didn't know that until about 5 years ago. Amazing stuff that went on.

Been watching events today and yesterday and some of the stories are horrible, like the young boy who lied about his age (16) and shot deed as soon as they arrived in France
We don`t know how really lucky we are at times Quinny.
Heroes every one of them.
The courage needed to go onto those beaches defies belief, every fibre of your being willing you to run in the opposite direction.
Those guys were made of strong stuff.
Magnum

Maternal Granda fought in the Kaiser War.

It's all happening around here as I live in Normandy. Roads closed. A fleet of taxis brought the veterans, I've saluted a few as we passed.
I am jealous would love to be there.
Schrod
And that Gothic script man - does ma heid in.
I know it's a movie, but the start of Saving Private Ryan maybe shows the kind of scene those young boys faced.
It's horrific to think we could do that to each other as a species.
It's sad to think some of these horrors are still happening in the world and no kant gives a toss.

Agree Zico.
The old B & W movie made by Zanuck early 60's is less dramatic
but 100% factually correct. It's on Film4 just now.
Silver
Incredible bravery of those who landed in France on D Day. Must have been terrifying.
Thought this was an article from lauders. He probably thought it was just happening though...
