In terms of who is good.

Jimmy Carr is brilliant
Billy Connolly will be hard to replace (people have tried for decade's)
Bill Hicks I used to love his stuff when I was a teenager and formed a lot of my opinions on humour.
Gervais can be exceptional, when he isn't though he is dire

Pretty sure that's a horror film. Although I understand your confusion as it was nominated for best comedy at the globe's

Sean Lock is great live.

As is Marcus Brigstocke. "Celtic tiger - just an ordinary tiger with a drink problem and type 2 diabetes".

Sarah Millican is the most unfunny person on the planet. I quite like Jimmy Carr I have to admit although I know his crude jokes are probably not to everyone's taste. Love Greg Davies too.

Jimmy Carr is annoying as fook. His laugh really makes me want to stab him.

But he is quite a smart chap - very very quick witted if you have seen him live.

Some of the wee montages of his contestant intros on 8/10 Cats Does Countdown are worth a watch. Some brutal but funny stuff in there.

Especially when he is giving it tight to the lovely Rachel

This is the problem with panel shows though

They're funny but it's more banter than straight comedy... The problem with banter is not all comedy styles suit it and it's generally better between people who are friends so we always see the same faces

Comedy is subjective but

Roy chubby brown is terrible.

Rory bremner is an example of a comedian who has got incredible stale, dont think he has done anything original or funny since bremner, bird and fortune. That shows was fantastically funny, looking back at it it's now clear to see how much they were carrying him.

I cant warm to Russel kane, his show evil genius is actually quite good, but my good God everytime I hear him state on it that he is from a working class background I want to hammer nails through my skull, okay we get it, stop going on about it every episode.

I used to buy a lot of stand up DVDs, they were usually quite cheap and perfect for a Friday night after a week of work. The only one me and the better half had to turn off was a Harry Hill one, it was just so unfunny, normally even if I'm watching a comedian I dont like I can get why some people will find them funny, but christ alive I couldn't get how anyone would find that crap funny, his stand up is terrible.

On the other side to that.

The single best stand up show I've seen was Greg Davis with his "Firing cheese balls at a dog" show, I had to pause it as I couldn't breath at points.

Two comedians who deserve way more credit then they get are John Finnermore, his radio programmes are amazingly funny, he is a real talent.

And Andy Hamilton, not a fan of outnumbered, never thought it was very good, however "Old Harry's Game" is probably the best radio series ever created and Revolting people, while not been as good as OHG, is still a very good programme. He is always fantastic on the news quiz too.

Actually speaking of the news quiz i miss Jeramy Hardy, whenever he would appear on the news quiz you knew you were going to get a great episode cause he was so clever and funny he could carry the show on his own.

Worst. Marcus Brigstocke.
If he still counts as a comedian? Now relegated to doing a crappy advert and demeaning himself.
Pompous tw@t slagged off Brexit voters and 3/4 of his walked out in the first 10 minutes.
Dim,self-righteous cooont of the highest order and not funny anyway.
The real class stand-up comedians are clever and astute enough to stay away from taking sides in politics.
