His game at his peak wasn't about power and pace. There was a hell of a lot more to it than that.
He's certainly been in the top 5 of the last decade or so... But of all time, a level below.
funny player never had the mentality of a true footballer for me
Hes probably a top 5 winger but when you throw in the strikers I think he falls short
Depends on your criteria. It’s not the most ridiculous suggestion given the high level he’s played at for seven years (only having one bad season in that time).
Players like Ronaldo, Drogba, Suarez and Van Persie arguably had higher highs but didn’t play at Hazard’s level for as long.
I would put him in my top 5, his peak wasn't as good as other players, but he is fantastic over a fairly long period. I'm not really that interested in comparing, I think he was a fantastic player for us; arguably the most talented player to play at Chelsea.
Chelsea is a big club, and if a big portion of our fans believe him to be one of the best ever to play for us - then its hardly beyond the realms of possibility that he is in the top 5 attacking players of all time in EPL.
Top 5 attacking players in PL history would be Ronaldo, Henry, Shearer, Rooney and one other. Aguero probably.

Top five is ridiculous in my opinion.
------------
is it really? or just something to say without backing it up
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In my opinion, yes. I can think of ten straight off who were better attackers.
In no particular order:-
Ronaldo
Giggs
Suarez
Bergkamp
Henry
Silva
Aguero
Shearer
Rooney
Bale
It’s not ridiculous because the definition differs. Hazard was either better at his best or done more over many years than a lot of that list.

Well yes he did more over time than some of those players but that's not what the article stated. It said that for him, Hazard is in the top five he has seen.
Yeah ok I still don’t think it’s outrageous then. The top five most ridiculous players I’ve seen are Henry, Ronaldo, Suarez, Bergkamp, Rooney and Hazard and Henry again. Henry was that good he counts as one.

I really rate Silva, but you've got to be delusional if you think he is way better than Hazard...
If I were to make a rough list of the best attacking players I have seen, it would be:
Ronaldo
Henry
Bergkamp
Suarez
Hazard

Bale had one good season, Hazard has much superior stats and Bergkamp is the epitome of overrated 90s nostalgia bait.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I think you're creating a criteria that was stated. If were adding longevity into it then yes I would put Hazard above Bale.

But then I'd have to put him above Suarez too. With that added then it begins to not look so ridiculous.
If we're ignoring the longevity element and just going for the 5 best attackers then hazard probably doesnt cut it
But when you think about Suarez for example only really playing at an unbelievably high level for 2 years, then you can easily make the case for hazard
It depends on how much you care about the longevity when you're having this conversation, I think that's the difference between being a premier league great and being one of the best players to play in the premier league
I'd say he's the best wide attacker of the PL era. Better than Giggs, Pires or whoever. As to a general comparison, considerations are a mix of peak quality and longevity. Suarez for example at his Liverpool best was a greater player, but I don't think he has done enough in England to put him above Hazard. To be honest, other than Henry and Ronaldo who I see as the definite top 2, you can argue for Hazard against anyone else. I really rated Hazard higher than most fans and thought him underrated. Best player of the past decade in England for me.
To be honest, other than Henry and Ronaldo who I see as the definite top 2, you can argue for Hazard against anyone else.

Rooney and Shearer are definitively ahead of Hazard too.

Agree with this
Its a little strange that the player who most Chelsea fans believe is their most talented player, is rated so low by so many on here. Besides Ronaldo, none of the attacking players put forward are flawless, and much of the criticism Hazard receives can be objectively to a number of top quality players.

I can't think of any reason to rate Shearer above Hazard, tbh.
There was probably only one season I thought Rooney was the best player in England, and at least 3 seasons where I thought that of Hazard. But yeah, I believe Rooney edges him on longevity of achievements.
