He has always expected to make a return.

I do think that is fundamentally the biggest issue the board has with the reporting over the last six months, it’s created a completely false narrative that really doesn’t make any sense.

Invested £1.3bn

Asset now worth £2.1bn.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Invested 1.3bn and received back in profits so far, 20m..

So in 10 years he has got back 20m.. at that rate and checking my calculator he should be paid back in 640 years.

Man City is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and yes if someone did misguidedly take the plunge and pay £2.3bn for Man City, they would be your new owners..
And they would be able to get their £2.3bn paid back in 1150 years

They’re all in it to make money as long as they find the elixir of life

Your comments has clearly highlighted your financial illeteracy.

it’s a vehicle for sports washing and reputation enhancement of Abu Dhabi / UAE.

Having loyal Man City followers defend them in the face of criticism.
------------------------------------------
I'm a loyal City fan who has been to the UAE and has asked questions as I don't want to blindly defend the indefensible.

I'm totally satisfied that the alleged Human Rights 'abuses' that people with an agenda bang on about are no different to what happens in this country.

I've yet to read an article in the Guardian or on this website highlighting the conditions that East Europeans endure in car washes or on farms, neither has the plight of people from the Indian Sub-continent working in sweatshops here in the UK.

It seems people are OK as long as they can buy cheap clothes, eat cheap food and get their car washed for a fiver but threaten the domination of their football club and they're out on the streets protesting.

Brilliant summary OP

The original three and now only 1 left in CL

A newcomer, joined in spending almost nothing in comparison, and this newcomer is causing endless concerns

whilst not winning it either....or anything else at home

very concerning

Look; I'm not 100% anti-Mansour, but let's not pretend that that country isn't a facking barbaric place.

It’s all relative. I’m ok with that statement but god knows what people think of other areas in the Middle East or North Africa then.

And what about all those 'Made in China' products sitting in their houses? Now there's a place that really knows how to deal with political opponents.

Some people assume that all states on the Arabian Peninsular are the same.

It's a bit like assuming life in the UK is the same as life in Iceland or Moldova just because they're European countrie..

Completely oblivious to the fact that Mansour and Khaldoon are part of the ruling elite and are therefore culpable for the way that country is run and governed.

If you're thinking of a career as a financial advisor.

Don't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You fail to take any reasonable advice anyway.. if you fail to see someone buying Man City right now for 2.3bn would not realise any profit on that 2.3bn for hundreds of years, with the only way to do so is finding someone to buy it off them at a higher price.

If someone had 2.3bn laying around theyd be better served in investing it elsewhere.

Which is why no one would pay that for Man City or any football club.

So, still think Mansoor and Khaldoon still in it to make money?
Theyre just playing with the sovereign wealth fund in a bout of global sports washing.

It’s not difficult to see.. if you want to that is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I suspect the sheikh will be gutted he’s missed out on your business acumen
What was he thinking ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He wasn’t thinking about making money.. simple.

He doesn’t expect to generate a monetary return on his Man City investment, it’s a vehicle for sports washing and reputation enhancement of Abu Dhabi / UAE.

Having loyal Man City followers defend them in the face of criticism.

In effect they’ve paid for you lot to become their shields and mouth pieces in the UK.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet he sold 13% to a Chinese consortium in 2015 for £265m
And it’s worth much more now
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only if it gets sold for 2.3bn..

A free press is essential..

Khaldoon had to resort to a fuzzy interview to counter the free press.

UAE are below Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, China are even worse.

Hence why UAE needs cheerleaders in the guise of city football group followers.

Where did Mansour get his wealth from Gibson? Was it dependent on which nob he got shot out of to have access to wealth of a nation?

Nice guys that own Man City..

What you fail to see or want to see is that Man City's owners are part of the UAE government hierarchy.

Who are responsible for lack of freedoms and setting the tone for those acts of barbarism.

Freedom of expression doesn't exist, with the arbitrary detention, imprisonment, and torture of peaceful human rights campaigners. Refusal to allow *any* legal or familial access to detainees who can be kept indefinitely on pretty much any charge, effectively disappearing people.

Illegal, indiscriminate attacks in Yemen, including deliberately sinking and abandoning boats of migrants. Widespread torture of prisoners of the conflict.

Jaw-dropping labour laws that actively exclude migrant workers from legislative protection resulting in widespread forced labour in terrible conditions.

Misogynist legislation that condems women to act under the instruction of their guardians and specifically protects domestic abuse of a wife by her husband. Marital rape is not a crime.

Homosexual activity is illegal, as is crossdressing, even for trans people.

The death penalty, which can be carried out by stoning or firing squad, can be applied for multiple crimes, including cases of homosexual activity, drug trafficking, and apostasy.

Let's not play dumb or engage in whataboutery, please. These kind of regimes are a stain on humanity.

Absolutely..

And to link it to the thread, the owners of city are part of the ruling elite that is guilty of the above.
