Best example is Renato Sanches.

.............

Quite a few of our fans on here wanted us to sign him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I can quite easily imagine.

Solid enough defender. Good fitness record and would probably start for us if we did sign him, but at that value? No chance

We could buy alderweireld and tielemans for the same price. Know who I would rather have

Better example would be Rio, quite a few of us wa Ted him.

Liverpool spent £75m on a centre back they knew would come in and be their best centre back by far

Can we actually say that with Maguire? Is he that much better than Lindelof and a fit Bailly? Possibly but there's not much in it. He's not VVD quality and never will be. I'd be very reluctant to pay silly money for him. Even if he's slightly better than what we have he's not world record free for a defender good is he?

I don’t want to lose Maguire. I don’t want to sell our best players. There is, however, a bigger picture if Leicester secure anything like £70-80m.

We have a bit of depth at CB and that money would really help in areas where we’re less strong. Also, Maguire isn’t currently as irreplaceable as someone like Kante was.

He’s a great footballer and will surely develop, but he isn’t always a great defender. He gets caught out quite frequently by not being aware of what’s going on around him. In fact, of the two, Jonny Evans is the better defender. So there would be some irony if Man Utd paid so much for Maguire over the man they let go for not much money.

Having said that I repeat that I want Maguire to stay. His potential is unknown, but his ability on the ball suggests that it’s possible he could become a truly great player.

..................

At present yes. Lindelof is a work in progress, Bailly is really awful. It is hard to tell if he can replicate his form from his first season.

Maguire is good enough to play for United, however he needs somebody with a bit of pace next to him, to cover him when he brings the ball out and comes out to meet an attacker as he's never getting back in time.

Bailly isnt awful. Bit rash and unlucky with injury but not awful.

posted on 10/6/19

Maguire n Lindelof would be awful though. Neither have pace.

At the moment he is awful. No idea what the hell you watched last season.

I don't think any of them are that quick. Mike is probably the quickest.

Quickest at wrestling someone to the ground

No one has denied he was unlucky with injuries. He was still awful at defending.

Some posts quite disrespectful here imo.Maguire is an excellent player and would undoubtedly improve United although I agree he will need the right partner alongside him.

This.

He’d probably make us worse at the back if anything. One of our biggest problems is defending balls and runners in behind. Maguire’s inability to read the game and move would cause us even bigger problems in this regard.

He’d improve us in the air, but we concede more goals and opportunities due to defending on the floor.

I like the lad. Decent player with a good attitude and a leader, which we could do with. But he ain't worth 70m for me and I'm not convinced he is quite good enough.

Don't get all the hate.

Maguire is streets ahead of all our CB's.

We are United, we will get ripped off. He is English, a good CB and will command a premium. Don't get all the shock if this is true tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He's not better than Smalling. Not even close.

A for Jones is better than him. Lindelof and Baillybare also better than him.

He's garbage

posted on 10/6/19

I haven’t seen enough of him to properly judge, but surely there are alternatives for the price quoted. Don’t ask me to name them though, as I don’t watch much football apart from Utd and Wales these days.

Hi Babyen. I'd say Chris Mepham is as good as him to be honest from the little I've seen.

Summer 2018

Woodward and his sidekicks say no to Maguire because he thinks he's overpriced and not much better than what we have.

Season starts and team falls apart and Jose gets sacked despite asking for another CB

Summer 2019.....We buy Maguire??? Don't get me wrong it definitely sounds like us to do this but surely Woodward asking for trouble doing this?

That's why I'm not buying it.

Alright Diafol. Not seen much of Mepham either to be honest. I have to say that my knowledge of other teams is at an all time low.
